I still think this is the best iteration of this idea

[–] riquisimo@lemmy.world 25 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Yeah, I get the joke in the post, but anyone who listens to RatM should very quickly understand what "the machine" is.

[–] BenVimes@lemmy.ca 11 points 2 years ago

You'd think so, but every couple of months there's another post making the rounds on the internet because some oblivious person completely missed the message of their favourite band.

[–] MajinBlayze@lemmy.world 5 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

IIRC Morello even responded to this with something to the tune of "what did you listen to of ours where you didn't hear political bs? We need to remove it from our back catalog"

[–] MartinXYZ@lemmy.ml 3 points 2 years ago

I've seen a couple of American Conservatives complain about RATM suddenly becoming all political. How the hell could you miss that?

I doubt they were raging against capitalism, seeing as how tickets to their last show were like $900 each.

[–] theceoofanarchism@lemmy.dbzer0.com 11 points 2 years ago (2 children)

This is a somewhat fair critic and you are not the first to make it but since 2020 10% of the base ticket price and 100% of proceeds after fees and base ticket price were reserved for charities local to each city they were performing in. They say they perform for the major label they do in sometimes in expensive areas and not just you know in squats to have their message reach as many people as possible you can chose to believe and accept that or not I'm not a huge fan so am not enthusiastic in their defense.

[–] Radio_717@lemmy.world 4 points 2 years ago

I was going to say exactly this. I almost bought 2020 tix at the highest ticket price BECAUSE of the charity. They even had the tix labeled as non-transferable to prevent scalping.

They also haven’t performed regularly since the early 2000s so it’s not like they’ve been making money hand over fist for 20yrs either.

I didn’t buy tix cause this was March 2020 and the world was already talking about shutting down.

*Critique

A critic is someone who writes reviews and critiques.

Capitalism is when things cost money.

[–] sycamore@lemmy.world 27 points 2 years ago

I mean, they had several hit songs describing in detail the machine that they were raging against and how it worked, but sure. Printer.

Die Motha F&@#%€, die Motha F&@#%€, die!

[–] dingus@lemmy.ml 5 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (2 children)

It means you have put the wrong size paper in the printer for the print-job, and it is requesting that you replace the paper with standard US letter size paper.

[–] pixelmixer@lemmy.one 2 points 2 years ago

This dingus knows their printers!

[–] sheepyowl@lemmy.sdf.org 2 points 2 years ago

It may also mean that you have the type of paper that you want to print on, but the divider inside of the paper tray is set on a different size -> and then it thinks you have the wrong paper size because the paper doesn't fit the tray size.

Basically you either want to: put paper in the tray, change the paper in the tray to a different size, or change the position of the tray divider thing.

It means office space!

It’s a case study in mild inconvenience how complicated my department managed to make the copier.

You used to just load the document and press the green button. Everything is done through the cloud now, including scanning.

I’m sure it’s real important for cyber security but it’s not entertaining explaining it to everyone who needs to perform a simple task.

[–] executive_chicken@lemmy.world 7 points 2 years ago (2 children)

HP printers are the worst offenders. Either their drivers go stupid or the ink cartridges go dry RIGHT when you need to print something

[–] 0uterzenith@lemmy.world 3 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

Up there with Canon, I feel like that shit needs to be serviced once a month

[–] gornar@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

I assumed this was by design!

[–] Jocker@sh.itjust.works 7 points 2 years ago

Printers indeed are the most evil machines I've ever dealt with.

[–] _haha_oh_wow_@sh.itjust.works 6 points 2 years ago

Their rage was directed towards The Machine™

[–] Fluffyb 5 points 2 years ago

Or the scanner that was working 5 mins ago and now refuses to.

[–] gaw@lemmy.cafe 1 points 2 years ago

Effing printer man! The open source movement started because of this, go ask Richard Stallman.
