ICE is an illegitimate agency. Doesn't obey the courts, doesn't follow it's own guidelines, doesn't follow the law or Constitution as a whole, doesn't get held accountable, and is even praised the more brutal they become. They're a roving street gang with government funding.

[-] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 27 points 8 months ago

They are death squads.

[-] explodicle@sh.itjust.works 9 points 8 months ago

Don't stop there. Who voted to fund this illegitimate agency?

[-] Pat_Riot@lemmy.today 6 points 8 months ago

IDK man, they don't have faces. They just look like silhouette targets to me.

[-] FreshParsnip@lemmy.ca 51 points 8 months ago

So the Untied States is officially in a civil war? I'd like people to call it what it is, if so. I'm sick of people acting like everything is normal

[-] Soulg@ani.social 11 points 8 months ago

Who is acting like it's normal?

Everyone still going to work/school, buying new phones, eating out, etc instead of taking to the streets and demanding their democracy back. There are protests this weekend, but by Monday they'll all be back at work.

So you know... pretty much everyone.

If I ditch work without getting my coworkers to unionize first, I will get fired.

[-] zbyte64@awful.systems 9 points 8 months ago

Those who society depends on most are the least free to take time to protest

[-] FordBeeblebrox@lemmy.world 4 points 8 months ago

That’s the point. It’s all or nothing but organizing is extremely difficult and it will cost lives.

[-] explodicle@sh.itjust.works 8 points 8 months ago

To organize I can go in to work and talk to coworkers about pay and their stake in the company. I don't want "our democracy back" because it hasn't been ours for my entire life. We need major structural changes and can't go back to how things were.

I'm not going to unilaterally lose my job to be the only guy protesting on Monday. When you're homeless, absolutely nobody will give a shit if the police murder you. I'm going after their money.

[-] Aljernon@lemmy.today 1 points 8 months ago

And if everyone ditches work, no one gets fired but they got all of you whipped.

[-] explodicle@sh.itjust.works 2 points 8 months ago

without getting my coworkers to unionize first

if everyone

What do you think war is? Civil ones in particular, in the modern era aren't typically fought in pitched battles. It's small outbreaks of violence here and there with communities here and there recognizing authority other than the establishment that seeks to control them. That's modern war. Look at the middle east and northern Africa, plenty of war to go around, and everyone is still just kinda doing their thing during the downtime.

[-] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 7 points 8 months ago

The media, for one

[-] Aljernon@lemmy.today 2 points 8 months ago

Most politicians, Corporate America, Mass Media

[-] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 39 points 8 months ago

ICE is a terrorist organization.

[-] anon_8675309@lemmy.world 15 points 8 months ago

Stay safe. If ICE is in your area and you’re not gathering to protest, do not go anywhere near them in your car. They’re using people getting close to them in cars as a means to justify killing.

[-] phoenixz@lemmy.ca 12 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago)

Well yeah, doh. You started a war, ergo, there is a war

The only problem is that so far, you've been doing the shooting and murdering of innocents and our side has... Protested? Those are literally the excesses on either side.

[-] Rhoeri@piefed.world 10 points 8 months ago

Yeah. I think the time for protests is over. You cannot speak truth to power with selective deafness. Our government is no longer for the people, they are effectively AGAINST the people.

We need to ask ourselves how effective protesting would have been for the Jews in the Nazi Germany, because that’s pretty fucking close to our current situation.

What the hell is that thing on his gun? It looks like something he found stuck to a shower wall.

EDITED TO ADD: Thanks for the clarification! I had no idea, I just saw the barrel pointed in that guy's face.

[-] Bytemeister@lemmy.world 11 points 8 months ago

Pepperball gun. That's a hopper that stores the pepperballs.

[-] some_kind_of_guy@lemmy.world 9 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago)

Ha! That's a paintball gun, not a firearm. The thing you're asking about is the "hopper" from which the paintballs are gravity-fed into the chamber. Sorry, I don't know the technical term.

[-] mechoman444@lemmy.world 4 points 8 months ago

A war on what? No one's buying this. Even magas in general aren't buying this shit anymore.

I know the influencers online are still toning the party line but generally this is gone farther than it was intended to.
