The primary comes first, and it's the first time we'll have fair primaries in decades....
But you never give up on plan A till plan A fails, that doesn't mean it's the only plan.
Oligarchs are desperate for Americans to hand over freedom in the hopes of security, they want us to pre-emptively coalesce around a neoliberal and focus on how they're not as bad as trump.
The most important step to beating trump, is getting a charismatic candidate with popular policy to the general.
The most important step is beating fascism, which includes Democrats and Republicans. Our current conditions did not rise in a vacuum, fascism cannot become a dominant force without the complicity of a weak liberal party. Only focusing on Trump, who is a single cog in the machine, will result in nothing changing. Liberals are focused on the emperor when they should be focusing on the Empire.
The current US primary system is the furthest from actual democracy and fair votes that you can get. There's no reason why all primaries couldn't all happen on one day like the general election. They stagger primaries so they can manufacture your consent for the candidate that they want in office
The Democratic primaries need to be an absolute bloodbath this year. Unfortunately Schumer is with us until 2028, so we'll probably mostly be dead or he will by then.
He could be fired as leader though. Make that a campaign issue for any Senate race.
Could doesn't really apply to good things in politics, but I appreciate your optimism. He will in all likelihood step down peacefully if he's not gunned down first. Maybe a massive progressive wave could change that, but I think it'd be a big ask even if that happened this year. It'd have to be multiple elections worth of progressive waves I think. Given the growing special interests in democratic primaries, I think the real fight is going to be out front in most of these cases.
It's by design, the current corporate Democrats have to show some effort of resistance but is rigged to lose in the end.
Exactly. You have to give the people just enough hope to think things might change but without actually doing anything. The Democrats are very good at it. They've been doing it for a long time.
They’re campaigning like the fascists are going to follow the rules. They won’t, they aren't, and they never have. Take the fucking gloves off and stop pretending like anything less than forcibly removing them and putting them in a jail cell for the rest of their lives is going to do much of anything.
When you face the reality that they are part of that fascism things become much more clear as to what path to take
Democrat leadership doesn't care if they win or lose elections. They'll all be rich and comfortable regardless. So they drag their feet and pretend to be the opposition party but in reality they are in a limbo contest with their friends on the other side of the isle.
This isn't about a purity test. It's about putting the right person in charge. Hakeem Jeffries and Schumer don't care about your issues. They will always side with capital when rubber meets the profits.
Democrats are campaigning as if the 2026 election will be ~~fair~~. That's a mistake.
