If I say "that's cold blooded" does that confuse you about the meaning of things that are "cool"?
"Cooked" refers to things that have overheated and thus, broken. "cooking" refers to trying tings out and innovating.
I think “cooked” in the meaning you refer to has actually existed for decades longer than people saying “let him cook”
“let him cook” which, I think, meant ‘give them a chance
I think "let him cook" generally means "let them do whatever they're planning and make their own mistakes".
"it's cooked" means someone has made some mistakes and now it's just a mess, with no undo.
It is absolutely a mistake to let certain people cook
