In case that they see this,

I was on the community-shown planet UD22-Delta (Eissentam) with the big egg. Searching for a portal. Saw their fun discussion about eggs and Jedi temples and wanted to join in.

But as I'm playing on console with microphone disabled... how do I talk with people?

On my steam deck I can summon an on screen keyboard and type. It's awful but it works. See if you can get a Bluetooth keyboard or on screen keyboard to work with whatever console you've got.

On steam I can use the Esc on my keyboard to toggle text chat. I don't have a Xbox or play station. But I thought you could connect a keyboard to one of those. ? Maybe it would work the same ?

Also, I think there was a speech to text feature.

Sorry it's been a while since I played but I'm almost positive that when I used the mic in game, it converted it into text.

I don't know if any of that helps you. Plus this is a few week old post.

Not on console, but from what I’ve read you can only communicate with other players using the built in gestures, there’s no text chat.
