He ultimately pleaded guilty to obstruction of justice and was sentenced to 18 months in prison. Rodriguez died in 2014.

Accidentally is not the word I would use. You accidentally add salt instead of sugar when cooking. You purposely ignore risk and help the enemy identify targets when you release the files without a coherent plan for situations like this.
