That refers to funny image macros and means that generally videos and screenshots are not allowed. Exceptions include explicitly humorous and short videos, as well as (social media) screenshots depicting a funny situation, joke, or joke picture relating to socialist movements, theory, societal issues, or political opponents. When writing stuff like "lol" and "iirc", it's a good idea to try and replace those with their all caps counterpart

We must constructively learn from their mistakes, while acknowledging their achievements and recognizing when they have strayed away from socialist principles.

Notable achievements in all spheres of society were made by various socialist/people's/democratic republics around the world. Mistakes, however, were made as well: bureaucratic castes of parasitic elites - as well as reactionary cults of personality - were established, many things were mismanaged and prejudice and bigotry sometimes replaced internationalism and progressiveness.

If this were about a demonym that actually is a victim of genocide or might be a victim of genocide, I would agree. For example, "eliminates 99.9% Palestinians" would be a horrible, evil thing to say.
Even if it were calling for killing Germans as a joke, which it isn't because it's referring to eliminating posters from a Lemmy instance, it wouldn't matter because there is no genocide against Germans and there is no power structure that might be used to commit one. This is the same principle that explains why there's no such thing as "anti-white racism" and why "unlimited genocide on the first world" memes are funny and not horrifying like "unlimited genocide on minority groups" would be.

One highlight of the thread IIRC was a user linking the thread that started the harassment against you as evidence in defense of the admins of feddit, lol.
Yeah that is beyond absurd considering that Emopunker literally was inciting harassment against me (and others too) and collaborating with a known right-wing troll (Goat). That is absolutely inexcusable.
"eliminates 99.9% of germans" makes it hard for me to laugh at this or find this funny. i support the disolution of the german state, as i do with every state. within this framework of understanding, resistance will have to take some form of violence since their oppression is violent in nature, and it's the only language fascists speak. israel and its allies are fascists. however, the idea that 99.9% of germans will need to die to dissolve the german state i feel crosses a line from us supporting the end of genocide to us calling for a genocide all our own.

No one is trying to actually kill Germans. This is the same kind of reaching that people engage in to get angry about "death to America" or even "unlimited genocide on the first world" memes. Actually, I specifically made sure to choose a container of wipes that said "eliminates" and not "kills" (which is a common marketing term) because I wanted to make sure this was clear.

It's about feddit, not all Germans, and 99.9% is for comedic effect. I don't know what percentage of feddit users are zionists or what percentage of German Lemmy users are feddit users, but the instance as a whole defends and promotes zionism, which is why it was defederated. If you're not a zionist then I have no problem with you (or any other German user).
The percentage of German users who are Feddit users is realistically quite small. The percentage of feddit users who are Zionists is likely also small (less small) but the ones who are Zionists are insanely loud or in positions of authority on Feddit. Which is why Feddit is considered problematic and why we defederated them.
A few bad apples can end up spoiling the whole bunch.
