@threelonmusketeers@sh.itjust.works seems to be protecting the alleged pedophile, transphobe and pedophile president installed and protector.

In !spaceflight@sh.itjust.works’s sidebar, there are no rules listed, and what do you know, I get a comment remove and instant perma-ban.

When are these guys going to understand they are destroying the fediverse, causing all these alt account creations, and don’t understand the difference between when to downvote and when to use their mod powers.

Most of them are:

A) Paid online PR firm employees (or chatbots; thinly disguised Grok)

B) Tesla stockholders (bagholders)

In this case maybe dbzer0 and slrpnk should remove said mod from the communities they manage on those instances. Since that would be a huge conflict of interest for both of our instances' goals.

I would say sh.itjust.works should intervene too but they don't care considering they were happy to enable the harassment against me and others during the feddit.org saga.

Honestly, I'm blocking things all the time, pretty much daily. Mostly just communities in languages I don't understand, games I don't play, music genres I don't listen to, etc. Anything that will never be relevant to me.

On one hand it's not surprising that someone named threelonmusketeers would be an Elon musk fan but at the same time it's weird that someone could still be a fan of him in this day and age. I remember when everyone was a huge fan of him and was giving him complete uncritical praise but after what we all know now it's not reasonable to still be giving him praise or defending him against criticism.

I still remember when he tried to accuse me of being an antisemite because he didn't like that I was calling out his ~~racist~~ zionist friend (and admin of feddit.org), and part of me thinks he might've been behind the harassment I received when I posted about it here. In the aftermath he sent this extremely insincere message to me "apologizing" to me but it was really just another baseless accusation of antisemitism. I don't know why but that seemed extremely sus to me.

It’s a community about spaceflight. SpaceX is relevant there. It’s not like the article was kissing Elon’s ass. Let people talk about the space flight aspects without the juvenile insults. Plenty of space for that kind of stuff. You don’t have to shit in every Musk-adjacent thread.

If you're going to be hyperbolic to the point of absurdity, it's impossible to not believe you were intentionally fucking around in the original community.

The rest of your post here doesn't do anything to improve that appearance either.

Edit: yup, YDI. Your comment was off topic and useless. I strongly suspect you were rage baiting. If not, then you're just one of those people that has to inject venom into things for fun, which I tend to think is very much a detriment to any community. Was a permaban the right starting place? Maybe not, but damned if I wouldn't have been tempted to do the same thing. Some shit just does not do anything useful, and if someone is doing one of those things, they'll likely do others.

I thought I recognized your user name from a different comment you made. I did; your comment about the macbook neo was superb, hence why the user name stuck in my head. I'm not sure why someone capable of that kind of great comment would also make the one you're posting about. It does make me believe you aren't a chronic shit stirrer though, so I have to mea culpa on that bad assumption, even though it is usually a good one to make with the limited information in this post itself.

Thanks for your comment! Mod who made the decision here.

The reasoning behind the decision was more or less as follows:

The user had no previous history of contributions (posts or comments) to the community
No part of the user's comment indicated that they had read the article they were commenting on
It seemed as though their comment was simply an emotional response to the article title containing the phrase "Falcon 9"
Other users who have left comments of similar tone in the past tend not to be valuable contributors to communities

And yeah, by this point, everyone knows "Elon bad". But stating the obvious doesn't contribute anything useful to spaceflight discussion.

At the time of my comment at least 7 people didn't seem to know or care Elon Bad.

Your reasons sound vaguely reasonable on the outset, however

you make a lot of assumptions about someone based on a first comment in a micro small community
no part of you community rules specify any of your now written out rules for commenting
none of this would warrant a comment removal and a fcking perma ban.
you coming in here, with THAT username proves you're not really seeing you're abusing mod power to not help your community, your instance, your own standing or the thing you're ~~emotional~~ passionate about.

The point is, either make those things the rules and then enforce them, or just down vote (or at best remove) but no need for the banning. c/elonsmagnificentspacetravel is also an option and I wouldn't commented in that either, even if it didn't have any rules.

I hate Elon as much as the next guy, but it's fucking annoying to go to any special interest community and just see the same shitty comments I've read a million times under every news story or meme post already. I don't need that in my spaceflight community.

I totally agree with you on this. The amount of people on here who seem to just go to express their hate, far outweighs people who add value to communities. The coolest thing about the fediverse is you can block what you don't wanna see. But they don't do that. They just insult and downvote. Then log in with their alts to downvote.

Fediverse is rapidly becoming the angrier, nerdier Reddit. I've noticed people legit just starting alts to downvote brigade rather than just ignore. It's crazy.

I even invited one of the people who does that to my comm to see if he could tell me why he felt the need to do that. And all he did was just log in under his alts to downvote the invite post. But I was really wanting to see what his reasoning was.

I guess sometimes there is no reasoning, they are just depressed hateful people that are annoyed that not everyone is as miserable as they are.

Hopefully the fediverse can pull itself up out of this. But unfortunately, I'm seeing more and more anger and hate, rather than less.

This is a community in the spirit of "Am I The Asshole" where people can post their own bans from lemmy or reddit or whatever and get some feedback from others whether the ban was justified or not.

Sometimes one just wants to be able to challenge the arguments some mod made and this could be the place for that.

Posting Guidelines

All posts should follow this basic structure:

Which mods/admins were being Power Tripping Bastards?
What sanction did they impose (e.g. community ban, instance ban, removed comment)?
Provide a screenshot of the relevant modlog entry (don’t de-obfuscate mod names).
Provide a screenshot and explanation of the cause of the sanction (e.g. the post/comment that was removed, or got you banned).
Explain why you think its unfair and how you would like the situation to be remedied.

Rules

Post only about bans or other sanctions that you have received from a mod or admin.
Don’t use private communications to prove your point. We can’t verify them and they can be faked easily.
Don’t deobfuscate mod names from the modlog with admin powers.
Don’t harass mods or brigade comms. Don’t word your posts in a way that would trigger such harassment and brigades.
Do not downvote posts if you think they deserved it. Use the comment votes (see below) for that.
You can post about power trippin’ in any social media, not just lemmy. Feel free to post about reddit or a forum etc.
If you are the accused PTB, while you are welcome to respond, please do so within the relevant post.
Keep the comments in YPTB posts about the moderation action itself, not about the general topic in which the moderation took place.

Expect to receive feedback about your posts, they might even be negative.

Make sure you follow this instance's code of conduct. In other words we won't allow bellyaching about being sanctioned for hate speech or bigotry.

YPTB matrix channel: For real-time discussions about bastards or to appeal mod actions in YPTB itself.

Some acronyms you might see.

PTB - Power-Tripping Bastard: The commenter agrees with you this was a PTB mod.
YDI - You Deserved It: The commenter thinks you deserved that mod action.
YDM new - You Deserved More: The commenter thinks you got off too lightly.
BPR - Bait-Provoked Reaction: That mod probably overreacted in charged situation, or due to being baited.
CLM - Clueless Mod: The mod probably just doesn't understand how their software works.
