Get the largest vacuum bag. Stuff a giant stuffed animal into it. Suck all the air out of it until it looks llike a midsized irregular object. Wrap it and give it to your 5 year old nephew, having Christmas at grandma's house (6 hour drive from home).

Bahahahahaha

To be fair, my brother-in-law started it by giving my kids the loudest most annoying shit possible. Vengeance is mine.

This is also a great tip when you have a kid who wants to bring a giant stuffed animal on a long trip and space is tight

It's vacuumed flat, put it in the bottom of a suitcase

[–] anomnom@sh.itjust.works 1 points 4 months ago (2 children)

So you betting the vacuum sealer, or a vacuum cleaner in vacation?

[–] dwemthy@lemmy.world 1 points 4 months ago

It stays with the family I was visiting of course

[–] hereiamagain@sh.itjust.works 1 points 4 months ago (1 children)

No silly it stays in the bag, duh 🙄

[–] anomnom@sh.itjust.works 1 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Ahh so it’s just to get the kid into the car.

Somehow this didn’t occur to me.

[–] hereiamagain@sh.itjust.works 1 points 4 months ago

I was actually joking. I imagine the child would be displeased with the toy staying in the bag. And if they open it? Now you have to struggle to get it home.

I don't know what the actual point would be unless you bring the vacuum with you

Does this. Does this actually harm the stuffed animals? Some mattresses and pillows are sold vacuum-packed but they fluff up after a bit.

They don't feel a thing

[–] sem@piefed.blahaj.zone 20 points 4 months ago

It can damage older ones especially.

I mean it's the most logical way to ship them across the world.

I bought a friend a Pikmin plush one time, and it came in like this.

I’m oscillating Between being horrified and laughing my ass off.

If you knew how much the stuffed animal collection costs, you'd understand

I am addicted to Makeship

What about your NFT collection.

NFTs can go straight to hell

[–] realitista@lemmus.org 6 points 4 months ago

I mean, it would definitely be an efficient way to store them.

[–] Kaput@lemmy.world 5 points 4 months ago

Can someone please recommend a vacuum sealer under $50 that isn't terrible? The one I have doesn't remove all the air before sealing. I want one with two separate buttons: one to activate the vacuum, and a second one to seal. That way I can determine on my own when all the air is removed, rather than rely on a faulty automatic process.

$50 is not cheap for what is literally just an air pump in a box.

[–] danafest@infosec.pub 4 points 4 months ago

Not as cheap as what you're looking for, but bang for the buck chamber vacuum sealers are so much better and can achieve what you're looking for, and the bags are SO much cheaper

I appreciate the help, but this is not quite what I'm looking for. The two buttons on this device are "Seal" and " Vacuum & Seal". I'm looking for a device with a second button that says "Vacuum" only.

Anybody does that to me and hands would be flying.

Edit:

Stupid keyboard combined with 98% user error and you get "toe" instead of "to me".
