More Shorts?? (lemmy.world)
submitted 5 months ago by surewhynotlem@lemmy.world to c/newpipe@lemmy.ml

I'm new to newpipe and I'm going to ask a question that about 80% of y'all are going to freak out over, but I can't find the answer anywhere else.

I want to watch YouTube Shorts without ads but with the same sort of interface as Shorts. I've subscribed to my favorite creators in newpipe, but I can't find a section where I can flip through Shorts as a single feed. I currently have to click into each creator to see their Shorts tabs. Does newpipe have a Shorts feed setting that I'm missing?

And before you bother commenting: Yes I'm a degenerate. Yes long-form is 'better'. You're all right. I don't care that my brain is rotted. Let me wallow in my filth. Preferably without ads.

I am actually quite happy, that NewPipe dose not show Shorts this way. I hate the modern YouTube, that when you search for something you just get bombarded with Shorts, instead of what you are looking for. Yes, there is a filter to sort them out, but this filter resets every time you change the search query.

I can understand that you want to have shorts without ads, everything is better without ads, but I hope NewPipe never adopts this.

Maybe you can use Brave-Browser and login there together with its ad-blocker.

You're in good company. That's how my right-wing Boomer coworkers get all their entertainment and news in one extremely long, for some reason full volume, bathroom break

This is a valuable comment.

I consume shorts from exclusively left wing creators and D&D content.

Totally superior then

I haven't tried it much, but it looks like libretube can filter subscriptions to show just shorts, which might give you something like what you're after.
