Hello! I think there's a fan issue with my laptop, Yesterday, while not running any program, the laptop was just " on", it started making this very soft sound, it doesn't seem to get any worse when I'm running anything heavy. Almost like a cat purr, I've had the laptop for years and this is certainly a new sound. Here's a 10 second video of it, you have to turn your volume way up to hear it (not a prank I promise you) https://drive.proton.me/urls/36SJE4WA6M#mq36NBG8two5

Do I crack it open and take a look, or leave it to a pro? I'm ok with the software side, but not hardware.

You're lucky, parts for Lenovo's are easy to source.

Last year I replaced a secondary fan in a 2010 Lenovo X series laptop - cost like ten bucks.

Go get the manual from Lenovo, they're shockingly easy to disassemble. The manual will show the exact sequence/screws and will list the part number.

Then search for that part number on ebay or Amazon/wherever.
