What a gorgeous adaptation. They animated beautifully the power fantasy of being able to draw a perfect circle.

Did you see the clip of the teacher doing a full arm rotation circle on a chalkboard?!

edit: found it

[–] zabadoh@ani.social 3 points 3 months ago

I had a high school math teacher who could do that!

[–] zabadoh@ani.social 6 points 3 months ago (1 children)

That was cool having the students working together!

And Coco gets her "learning by observing and repeating" progress bar moment.

I actually didn't like Agathe having to be rescued.

That whole situation seemed too contrived.

But a little before that, I'm still not sure how the paving stones worked.

They have a spell drawn over them together, they're thrown in a heap, Qifrey lifts one, then???

Brimmed Hat mage put a portal spell on the paved stones to lure and trap the girls in the maze/pocket universe. -> After they stumble into the trap, the mage destroys the paved stones to close the portal and keep anyone else from finding them /helping them. -> the girls break the magic seal on the inside that keeps the spell active -> with the spell broken the door back to reality opens and Qifrey can enter and save the girls.

by enveloping the Wall Breaker and Billow Cluster combination

within a Repetition Spell

Right now they are just doing it iteratively (5 times, right?), but surely someone would have thought of doing it recursively; could have been a nuke.

(Though one may need one or more utility spell like the Repetition Spell to make it work. A Duplication Spell, maybe?)

I imagine Big ~~Band~~ Bang happened because someone just did a recursive spell or something.

I think I love this adaptation just as much as I hate the other one.

Also, when was the last time an anime did skip OP and ED to squeeze 3 more minutes out for the episode? From the shows that I watch it must have been Re:Zero.

This scene is literally: "There's always a bigger fish"

What other adaptation are you talking about?

[–] NineSwords@ani.social 1 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Pssst. Don't speak its name, or it comes! It brings with it all the cut pages of the Bookworm novel that scatter unused around it until you drown and suffocate in them.

[–] KairuByte@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 3 months ago (1 children)

NGL this is an incredibly unhelpful, though humorous, comment…

[–] NineSwords@ani.social 1 points 3 months ago

Bookworm is the keyword here. I hate the WIT adaptation with every fiber of my body.

It was nice to see them all working together after what happened last episode. And in the end we got to see Qifrey in action to save the day.

~~Coco didn't tell about the encounter with the Brimmed Cap. I wonder if that has any relevance. Maybe she is considering what they said?~~

@rikka@ani.social

Screenshot with Richeh saying "All are helpless before the power of a warm bed!"

Coco didn’t tell about the encounter with the Brimmed Cap.

Are you talking about the encounter in this episode? Coco wasn't conscious during it.

[–] hitori_gotoh@ani.social 3 points 3 months ago

I rewatched the scene and you're right. I thought it was something like a vision at first.

[–] Hedup@ani.social 3 points 3 months ago

I got the comfiest flannel bed sheets. When I snuggle into them tonight, I will be thinking about this.
