We're the anti-meme community where the joke is that there isn't one, and by explaining that, we've ruined the whole thing, but we all find the collective misery hilarious.

The music of comedy is more important than the joke itself.

Follow the instance rules please, this is a lovely instance.

Looks like the spoon is held down by the tape holding the grenade to the wall. So even if the pin is pulled, the grenade won't go off.

You’d lose that bet

The pin retention is stronger than fucking scotch tape lmao

Not to mention people never pull those handles up but push down to open

It's the door opening that would do it.
But now that you say that, i wonder if the chain would just slide off the handle if it was turned down. lol

Damn, putting a ring on it already. Not a good idea

So is this that the grenade will go off if you open the door to leave, or if you open the door to get in?

[–] swagmoney@lemmy.ca 3 points 3 months ago

but like what if you really had to shit and you just rushed through the door and into the other room you'd probably be fine #lactoseintolerant

The construction is somewhat suboptimal. The splint is pulled when the door swings open with enough room to disarm which is penalty intended. So if you are careful that shouldn't be an issue. I usually don't open foreign doors swinging wide while entering the room as if I'm surprising my partner while cheating.

The wall material is not an issue, this is a frag grenade, the fragments will usually penetrate most regular wall materials.

Depends on the type of wall this thing is stuck to. If it's a concrete wall, you're pretty safe. If it's one of those American houses made from cardboard, you're in trouble.

Who cares about the wall? A door handle usually turns down. And even if that thing would turn up the chain would slide down the handle. And even if the handle would pull on the chain the pin wouldn't go out because the chain would pull sideways instead of away from the wall, like the pin needs. And even if the chain just pulled the grenade lose from the flimsy tape the grenade would still just dangle from the chain because you need considerable force to pull out the pin.

Edit: I now realised that it's supposed to pull the pin out when opening the door. Would still need a lot of force.

I went through the exact same trail of thought, even the final realisation in the edit 🤣.

This is a weird one. The door handle turns downward, so nothing will happen.

You want the grenade to go off when they open the door and walk inside, not just when they turn the handle, because then the wall will absorb most of the blast.

Geez, you people act like you've never killed a foe with a grenade boobytrap before.

The arc of the door opening should pull the pin, providing the wire doesnt just fall off as the handles pressed down ofc.
