Discussion about the aussie.zone instance itself

I'm wondering if there has been any consideration for Aussie.zone to defederate with MAGA.place?

The instance only seems to have two active users, so you're asking us to analyse them directly:

Clicked a few of their video links. Got antivaxx stuff (that isn't obviously antivax until you watch it). Going to have to delete my youtube cookies now :P

They're not enforcing their racism & xenophobia rules. Eg this

Some of their comments give me a feeling they want to sow division, whilst projecting this onto others. That's not good on an online forum.

@Gnugit@aussie.zone I assume this is your motivation? https://aussie.zone/post/31189469

Essentially, my motivation for the post is driven by the constant bombardment of hate and stupidity that comes from MAGA. Whereas on the flip side I suffer from the paradox of tolerance so there will be some hate reciprocated by me.

You may see that I often shoot my mouth off inappropriately if you look at my comments, it's been a lifelong skill of mine unfortunately but I have learned to live with it.

feddit.online has always been de-federated from maga.place, since the beginning.

Oh, I need to update my title, sorry.

How are they going to do MAGA stuff without hate of any kind? Kind of like having a piss up in a dry bar.

How is it even possible that with those rules of conduct it has posts?

Eh, unless they become a direct issue, I don't see us ever interacting with them. They're gonna have fun with the overwhelming dislike of their emperor on like 99% of Lemmy instances lol

I don't use All as much as I do Local so I'm ambivalent. That said, I would consider defederating to make a point - we do not support instances which are hypocritical and whose entire userbase is based in bigotry.

It looks like most have already deferated from them.
