Philips ambx light (lemmy.today)
submitted 3 months ago by ambxer@lemmy.today to c/OpenRGB@lemmy.today

Im wanting to reactivate my old philips amBX system (the other option is the tip) and I can see its supported by open RGB.

Im just looking for a few pointers to get things playing nicely.

This is where Im currently at;

  1. Ive downloaded the openRGB software for windows and Ive turned of asus aura features
  2. My PC sometimes sees the ambx units on the USB but not always.
  3. openRGB does not detect the ambx units.
  4. Do I need to pull code from github and run the amBX control or is that baked into the windows console?

Thanks

Try using the latest pipeline version of OpenRGB (https://openrgb.org/releases.html#pl) and try running as administrator. It will only work if the device is already showing as connected by USB. Unfortunately, I don't have any personal experience with amBX devices and the code was contributed by a community developer so I don't really know what interface it's using or additional troubleshooting steps. IIRC it's using the libusb interface so you may have to install the WinUSB driver for the device using Zadig (not sure, just sometimes needed for libusb devices).
