<visible confusion>

[-] Sanctus@anarchist.nexus 53 points 3 months ago

fossilesque setting themselves aflame to show us the worst slop in history. I commend it lmao most people are just reactively down voting it its so bad.

[-] Mothra@mander.xyz 55 points 3 months ago

Ok but why on Science Memes? I'm also confused, not downvoting but wondering wtf why here.

Waiting with baited breath for Lemmy community to turn this into a science meme

What the fuck

[-] Vanth@reddthat.com 16 points 3 months ago

And people say AI generated books are awful slop. This is pure artistry!

[-] m4a@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 3 months ago

Apparently the book is written by a human?

[-] Vanth@reddthat.com 18 points 3 months ago

Nah, I'm pretty skeptical. The authors website has like 150-200 book titles. Either someone using AI to pump them out, or several authors publishing under the same name.

[-] SkunkWorkz@lemmy.world 2 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

Yeah but they still prompted this.

[-] josephc@lemmy.ml 2 points 3 months ago

I can dump out 10k words of smut in a week of evenings. If you don't care about quality and can type 60wpm, a 30k word book will only take 500 minutes. ~9 hours.

Or it's a slop cannon, like you said.

I could see it either way.

[-] Tolookah@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 3 months ago

Romance authors can pump out a book crazy fast, 4 months on average says a quick search, and I wouldn't doubt there are ones who can write them even faster, if they don't edit.

what is the appeal of this? It's ok if you're autistic you can always marry an alien?? wtf?

[-] Nangijala@feddit.dk 7 points 3 months ago

I went to my local bookshop the other day to look for The Hobbit and there was not even the slightest shadow of Tolkien anywhere.

Instead the entire English fiction section was wall to wall shit like this. Fantasy porn for women.

I mean, I know that this particular "creation" is AI, but even the human-made fantasy/sci-fi porn is so bad, lifeless and paint by numbers the same story over and over, that it might as well be AI.

It is a particularly dystopian experience to step into a modern day book shop and all fantasy literature is just shit like this.

I'm part of the problem because I spent a good number of years not really buying and reading books and most books I interacted with were audiobooks when I was out on walks.

But genuinely, fuck this is sad. Bookshops practically have turned into bored housemom shops. Fantasy porn, cook books and the occasional biography about a topical famous person whom women would find interesting.

The kids section is hidden away in the back of the store and there's seemingly no incentive for men to visit the shop. Probably because men generally don't read anymore. I know one man around my age who reads. One.

And us women don't really read either, but those who do, read fantasy porn Dx

[-] dawcas@scribe.disroot.org 2 points 2 months ago

I read, but it's almost always fantasy/sci-fi to escape reality for a while. I've started reading Dungeon Crawler Carl and it is like turning off my brain lol

[-] gandalf_der_12te@feddit.org 4 points 3 months ago

wtf is this nonsense. mods pls delete this

[-] Ratio_Tile@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 3 months ago

[-] Nima@leminal.space 2 points 3 months ago

...why is this so heavily downvoted? am I missing something?

[-] saturn57@lemmy.world 35 points 3 months ago

A book advertisement is not a science meme.

[-] Nima@leminal.space 7 points 3 months ago

i thought it was fake science fiction book that sounds absolutely awful and that's why it's here.

i didn't realize it was an actual book.

...but it does in fact still sound hilarious.

[-] Nangijala@feddit.dk 2 points 3 months ago

You are too pure for this world πŸ’–

[-] starlinguk@lemmy.world 1 points 3 months ago

There are far too many "hilarious" books like this out there and not enough good ones.

[-] SkunkWorkz@lemmy.world 1 points 3 months ago

Even if it was supposed to be a meme it doesn’t fit in this community

[-] Rozauhtuno@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 3 months ago

It's also AI slop.
