  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.

“The sentences handed down today make clear that Antifa terrorists who attack law enforcement and federal facilities will face swift and uncompromising justice,” Todd Blanche, the acting attorney general, said in a statement. “Their violent extremism has no place in our country, and the Department of Justice will continue to aggressively investigate, disrupt, and prosecute those who threaten law enforcement officers or undermine the rule of law.”

Didn't the Trump Administration, who are actively praising the unusually harsh sentences, just pardon a bunch of people who were guilty of violent extremism and attacking law enforcement officers?

Todd Blanche had better watch his neck.

Pretty sure the sentence was intentionally insane so it could be appealed.

The judge who sentenced them this way has one of the highest rate of overturning in the country and has long been used in order to rule on stuff that's not even his jurisdiction because he always rules with the Republican interests. Turns out when judges are the ones who are supposed to say, "no jurisdiction" they could theoretically just not say that... It will be overturned for a different sentence, but there's something to be said that judges with purely ideological leanings getting consistently admonished from higher courts for dogshit opinions probably shouldn't be allowed to remain being judges without consequences.

He literally hand-picked the jury. It was a sham trial.

Regarding the person who was sentenced to 30 years for transporting a box of zines...
