Now I'm not saying he's cheating, but it seems to me turning on noclip and driving right through the advertisement boards should be against the rules.

They have been for about a decade or so yeah.

With the F1 movie they actually had the trailer playing almost all race. Till the cameraman needed to reposition and fucked up the tracking. It was annoying as fuck and a lot of people complained about it.

Also the entire tunnel in Monaco, those are just old tiles and dirty safety/maintenance nooks. So they overlay a huge banner.

But yeah a lot of what you see on the screen isn't there in real life.
