Two sources have come out claiming that Xbox is making a Destiny like MMO, but with Bungie's original IP, Halo.

I find this amusing as this happens right after the creator of Halo and Destiny killed off Destiny and tried to replace it with the flop that was Marathon.

We’ll make our own Destiny with blackjack and hook… er… I mean … Master Chief

Zenimax Online had another MMO in development called Project Blackbird that was described as a Destiny-like shooter with a lot of positive first impressions surrounding it. It had been in development since 2018 and was nearing its eventual reveal. Then Microsoft canceled the entire project as part of their big round of layoffs last year (not to be confused with the bigger round of layoffs this year).

So they had a Destiny-like MMO, which already had 7 years of work put into it, and they killed it for short-term cost cutting. Then Destiny implodes, leaving an opening in the market. But instead of already having a killer project ready to go to fill the void, Microsoft is deciding to start over from scratch using a tired, recycled IP that will inevitably release far too late.

Just make normal Halo for once! Damn it: no sprint, splitscreen and feature complete at launch. Is it so hard?!

It is hard when the talent is long gone.

The only ones left are yes-men and people that lost interest long ago.

Hang on, I’ll check behind the sofa for the part of me that still cares about Halo.

I have total confidence in Xbox and Microsoft

"Hey, remember that amazing, original idea we had 25 years ago, and have been milking non-stop since? Let's do more of that!"

Damn you Microsoft making me excited over Halo.

They jingle keys, and y'all come running.

I'm glad they're making their own destiny.

Good to know that MMO also made their own destiny, too.
