Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

Gotta be the dumbest president the US has ever had.

But he got elected. Twice. So what does that say about US voters.

Tells a lot about the country and its people

[–] RaoulDook@lemmy.world 7 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Only 23% of the total USA population voted for the current Piece Of Shit. But far more just didn't even vote so the true winner was Apathy. It's the apathy of a population mentally beaten down by the relentless flood of mind warping bullshit. Yes, they should have known better. But I think the blame doesn't fit squarely there.

A while ago I saw the old video before it got filled...

Literally while they were still painting/sealing it, trump full on drove his full motorcade into the reflecting pool so he could see the color and speak at reporters.

I immediately figured that's why it got fucked up.

"The Beast" that the president rides in is a fucking tank and insanely heavily, driving normal SUVs would have been dumb, but there's no way that thing didn't fuck it up.

[–] Swordinferno@lemmy.world 51 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

I've heard it contested whether 'The Beast' was used, so I went and Found a video myself.

I personally don't see 'The Beast' out there.

That said, I do think any of those massive Cadillacs could have caused the damage.

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 31 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

https://youtu.be/cVa-a2ZFEGE?t=69

That may not be "The Beast" but it's just as heavily armored and started from a larger frame, so I think it's a safe bet to equate the two even if that's not officially "The Beast".

Like, I don't think it's been one vehicle thru all these administrations.

I always took "The Beast" to refer to a heavily armored vehicle the president routinely travels in. Like how "Marine 1" is just whatever helicopter the president is using, or how trump got off Air Force 1 and got one a different air force 1 a few weeks ago.

While a lot less official "The Beast" isn't a single vehicle either.

I'm dead, this is so ridiculous.

10 pickups driving directly inside the pool for a single orange guy...

[–] huppakee@lemmy.world 9 points 1 week ago

Even more crazy is to now see the news show videos of a person who had his hand underwater as proof the pool was sabotaged

[–] Fondots@lemmy.world 9 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Ever if "The Beast" itself isn't used, I'm pretty sure a lot ,f the rest of the motorcade vehicles are all armored with various additional bells and whistles so they probably outweigh standard SUVs by a good bit. I'm pretty sure one of the motorcade vehicles usually has a mini gun turret that pops out of the roof.

Also, I haven't seen anything specific about it, but I do believe the beast is at or near the end of its intended service life and i saw a few months back some article that pointed out that he was seen in an Escalade-looking vehicle instead of the beast at some event, so there might possibly be a new beast making it's way into service, but they weirdly haven't made any major announcements about it yet (I wouldn't be too surprised by any other president being a bit tight-lipped about it, but trump absolutely would not be the type to shut up about "his" new custom Cadillac.)

[–] Ariselas@piefed.ca 5 points 1 week ago

Maybe the Saudis will buy him a new car to go with the jet

He had to be driven because he can’t walk more than 10 feet without collapsing?

There are some tweets at the bottom so you can click and be presented with an X login wall which I am certainly not going to be able to get past, not having an account to that nazi owned site. I just love twitter journalism these days.

More effort has gone to an investigation into Trump being embarrassed than Trump raping children. Never forget who sits in the white house or who continues to make that possible. They use the law for self interest, not to build us a better world.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 6 points 1 week ago

MSMS, its by design, they are all owned by epstein likely related ceos, and that last thing they want is reporting epstein files. they quickly quashed all news negative of trump(report it for a few days, then vanish). ELLison, murdoch, they learned thier lesson when reporting on luigi, Mandamni , and the ice raids , give it too much attention, everyone will be instantly aware, instead its flood the network with nonsense(trumps gaffes, this also includes iran wars of distraction)

[–] frongt@lemmy.zip 51 points 2 weeks ago

So he wasn't wrong, it's just that he himself was the vandal.

[–] xangadix@lemmy.world 44 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Are the Epstein Files in the pool? No? Then I don't care about the pool.

Oh come on! Stop it! This will put The Onion and all other satirical sources out of business.

[–] Railcar8095@lemmy.world 17 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Info Wars is the new source to follow

[–] TigerAce@lemmy.dbzer0.com 11 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Is it finally from the Onion now? I keep hearing it is, then to hear it isn't.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 14 points 1 week ago (3 children)

Yeah they've been putting out videos on the infowars YouTube page.

In case you hadn't heard, Alex Jones popped like a balloon in his car. Seems like other news outlets are afraid to report on it...

They are operating under a "realinfowars" brand across some of the major socials.

[–] switcheroo@lemmy.world 25 points 2 weeks ago

And the crack the Pedo-in-Chief said was there? That is the drainage channel.

Dumb as fucking dirt...

[–] SocialMediaRefugee@lemmy.world 23 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Remember when we used to elect people who were fit for the office of president?

[–] yuki_gassen@lemmy.ml 11 points 1 week ago

Idk, while yes trump is delusional, I can think of a lot more unfit politicians for high office than fit ones.

Who cares about the pool, it's a distraction of the most obvious kind.

What I'm wondering now is whether the USA can recover from this utter disconnection of the executive from truth and reality.

There is now a undeniable precedent of just lying continuously while in office, to essentially no consequence.

This sets a new floor for what you can do while in power. How this doesn't break US American politics durably, I don't know.

Edit: well this is on topic: https://thegrimhistorian.substack.com/p/has-america-crossed-the-asshole-threshold

This article is about posts on nazi owned platforms X and Truth Social for those who would like a reprieve.

[–] melsaskca@lemmy.ca 16 points 1 week ago

What a comedy of errors. You couldn't make this shit up.

[–] socsa@piefed.social 15 points 1 week ago

The best proof that the gash doesn't exist is that they haven't plastered pictures of it everywhere, and seem to have actually put black fabric over the fencing to block everyone's view of the empty pool.

[–] Gammelfisch@lemmy.world 14 points 1 week ago

The only morons who will give a shit about this damn reflecting pool are the MAGA dumbfucks. Use it as a urinal until the regime changes.

[–] osanna@lemmy.vg 13 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

President Donald Trump drained the pool Monday, insisting vandals had left a 300-yard gash in its lining. But reporters and on-the-ground onlookers told CNN they saw no gash.

Holy shit, trump... lying?!?! NO WAY! He would NEVER lie! he's such an upstanding old gentleman!!

spoiler/s just in case

[–] A_norny_mousse@piefed.zip 10 points 2 weeks ago

"How many Escalades does it take to break a pool?"

[–] NewNewAugustEast@lemmy.zip 6 points 1 week ago (8 children)

Is my browser just blocking it or is this yet another article that doesn't actually show any thing that they are talking about?

[–] drmoose@lemmy.world 11 points 1 week ago

They have Twitter embedded links rather than just posting the photos directly. So tired of this.

I saw some video thumbnail - can't find it now - talking about how Donvict's 900 foot gash was the drainage system?

[–] pitaya@lemmy.zip 5 points 1 week ago (7 children)

There isn't much about this administration that could be less newsworthy than the shitty renovations to the fucking pool. Why the fuck is anyone interested in this

[–] bridgeburner@lemmy.world 14 points 1 week ago (5 children)

Because it shows very plainly the absolute incompetence of this government, not only for this project, but as a whole. I mean renovating the pool shouldn't really be that difficult, should it? Just get a reputable company to do the job, and that's it. But the government can't even do that.

FAKE NEWS! But I have a great idea here, maybe it is the best one folks, just fill the whole pool up with beautiful, highly reflective mercury. Or, as they call it, quicksilver. You know what quicksilver is? They used to have it in thermometers before they made them woke... And and I also hear that the algae don't like being in it very much! Just like looser liberals with box cutters. But if they want to reform, and I told JD about this already, we can do patriot baptisms in there as well! It's going to be great! The only thing that would be greater is if we filled it up with liquid gold, but we can't afford that now. Not after what OBAMA did. So the silver will have to do.
