I have started using AI more and more the past few weeks and while I still feel shame about that and I am cautions about how I use it, I am more and more convienced that its not the moral failure that the internet makes it out to be, at least one to comes to individual use.

I have been going to a psychraist for a couple of months, with no insurance. Its costing me in the thousands, and yet, I was never explained how the medication works, and how do my disorders relate to my current problems. I understand that the job of a psychraist, due to capitalism, is to dispense medication, more so in my country, but when the doctor seems so annoyed and disinterested and your only given 15 min to explain your problems, its impossible to not feel like your being scammed.

Tbh, I am sure if I were to look at egypt use of AI on an individual level, I am sure it would be higher than the average for other countries. Its good day, if you walk into the doctors' office and he doesn't look like wants to spit in your face while you paying in thousands.

It's a failure of technology too. Somehow Google enshitiffied its own search engine, forcing people to use AI to find anything remotely revelant. Every now is SEO.

Also, shit is lonely. When your only option is to make friends online, it can be nice to have some to talk to. Therapy is not a vial option for, many many reasons.

This is really just a rant for me, to work through some stuff.

I'm sorry you're dealing with this.

You are not a failure.

You are picking the least-bad options you have. You are trying your best and the social system is not helping.

AI is not a moral failing. It's just a tool.

To put it as a metaphor: If you need to hammer in a nail, a screwdriver is the wrong tool. But if all you've got is a screwdriver, you can still use the handle to pound in the nail.

Keep doing your best. Because your best is all you can do.

Its like we are back where we started about personal responsibility. You are being told, that you personally, are responsible for boiling the oceans. It all the same shit companies pushed about climate change as an individual's problem.

Like driving a car isn't a sin. Some people are assholes and reckless with them. Some relay too much on them, but a lot of people need them for basis needs.

All to say, thank you, that means a lot to me. I have been dealing with a lot the past few years. I dont need to feel more like a failure because I prioritied my health but don't have resources to seek professional help.

I think you're smart to be cautious how you use it but you've no reason to be ashamed of using it.

You're on Lemmy so your sentiment is counter to the whole of the network, discussing anything other than derision for ai is like choosing to come out as gay at the local southern Baptist church. Its going to land like a lead balloon. That being said, most people out in IRL share your opinion.

Use it if you want to, don't apologize for it but be mindful of what the billionaires are doing to exploit your use of it.

As long as you're not paying the clowns for a clown show, it's not your fault they're dumb enough to give it away for free.

... BUT you HAVE to make sure you don't get addicted or reliant, because that's exactly why they're free at first. Building up habits that rely on AI is where normal people screw up and should feel bad. They're being suckers, walking right into the same ol' "first sample's free" drug dealer trap.

This tech is ONLY cheaper for you to use right now because they want you addicted, so you cough up money when the screws turn. They want AI to look attractive, so they're eating costs hand over fist right now.

One day, they will have to charge a profit margin, and that day, "AI" won't be the cheap option, but all the execs already fired their staff, and normies built habits, so what are they gonna' do?!

Pay up.
