Cats, like mongooses, have faster reflexes than snakes because of warm blood and arseholery genes. The whole story is pretty weirdly written as I though that was pretty common knowledge by now.

Ikr? Fun fact: cats are extremely effective hunters for animals of their size, and as such can wreck havoc on local ecosystems. I think that people tend to forget this because they're also frequently adorable derps
