It’s disappointing that the Spanish team didn’t refuse to take part in this pathetic self-congratulation. It would have been a powerful symbol to the world if they had simply marched past this monstrosity as a united front and ignored their medals.
Well, that would probably have been asking too much of a soccer team, even though they would have been celebrated as heroes around the world—and especially in their home country—for such an act of civil resistance.
