Probably for two reasons:
- They probably can't actually navigate the venue floor well (You'll notice they're pretty much dragging the dogs in a direction).
- Someone might steal them if they aren't guarded.

Unpopular opinion: drum computers were normalizing all this in the 80s. I hated it.
This is not directed at you I am just angry. Cold War 2.0..... Did drum computers create child porn, emited deadly gasses, displaced workers and comunities, drink up all the ground water and cause a economic disaster, the us dollar is halved, global oil production is at 75% with no reserves? Unemployment is probably around 25% and now a days they calculate that shit in a way to make it look better than worse. The whole ass economy is a casino catering to the top 10% and we are not even on the spreadsheet. Not the same.
