Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

ICE: because we want to covertly take control of phones? I'm not understanding the question

[–] dan1101@lemmy.world 15 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Because Congress gave ICE $70 billion dollars and ICE terrorized and kidnapped and raped and killed people with no accountability or oversight. Then Congress cracked down and gave ICE another $75 billion dollars with no accountability or oversight.

[–] deliriousdreams@fedia.io 2 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

I feel like cracked down should be in quotes. But pretty much this. Congress enabled them and now it wants to ask some questions?

[–] dan1101@lemmy.world 2 points 21 hours ago

Congress thought that no organization with $75 billion dollars could possibly be evil. Next they will give them $80 billion.

[–] Blackfeathr@lemmy.world 23 points 1 day ago

Which, no matter the answer, Gary Peters will promptly do nothing about and then go on to approve more ICE funding.

[–] Jumbie@lemmy.zip 25 points 1 day ago

Maybe I can find this somewhere else. Fuck CBS.

I thought mostly getting off the Internet except a few apps and some searches was good enough but I guess I need to get rid of my phone all together…

Not just rid of the phone but getting rid of the lifestyle of participating in this culture of human control and conquering they exist for.

We fund this stuff. And it's starting to be understood that what is offered here isn't worth the price of humanity.

It's all about loyalty. 🤌🍝 And datacenters and ICE is being built up for the future purge of those that don't or didn't meet loyalty requirements.

Immigration and ice at the moment is just normalizing the policing, profiling and building up to what's to come. And you can see, media and pop marketed trends create black and white debates and lead people away from the truth of understanding what's actually happening. It's not really about chatgpt and ai... It's not really about race and immigration... It's not simply about unionizing... Its about manufacturing paths that allow people to think they are making change or have true freedom of choice...

And that is going to get way worse once everyone has a profile in the datacenters infrastructure after all this bullshit comes into place. It will be so easy for them to lead you without you knowing. The dominant side of society already is leashed without understanding... It's chess game and most of humanity are the pawns. I would say a lot of what people fight for (in good intent) is manufactured by greater control and used for an end goal that is something other than what the "pawns" with good intentions thought they were fighting and progressing towards.

People are still picking between sides that are a part of the same monster as if something will change.... That is fucking frightening. It's not about humanity... It's business, it's conquering humanity for control and profit.

To participate in the [western?] culture means you ARE part of the problem. ...and I say that as a westerner that still funds the culture... But I cannot deny to myself, truth, and the universe that the statement is 100% true.

We are groomed to live for a culture our spirits know is wrong. It creates cognitive dissonance which leads to the decay of people... So the give us methods of escapism and lifestyles that distract us from this truth and further the problem.

Once you understand the psychology of humans and humanity, you can see social manipulation in use. And you can see it's misuse throughout all of history. Shit... Jesus was crucified for authentic truth and his truths were manipulated, packaged and industrialized, for control. Why? What's the justification of that? Because when regular people understand we live in chaos, their brains would snap and they would react emotionally like animals. That situation is the situation Jesus' teachings were meant to quell, but the industrialized church thought it best to control the situation by saying they are the bridge to God.

What if people understood the authentic path of humanity isn't something we vote for, and that It isn't part of the lifestyles we were groomed to live for? What if they followed the wisdom that was universal between cultures before that wisdom was packaged and manipulated for control and profits?

Well I say all that... But we know what happens... You get crucified, assassinated, or manipulated to look insane or fanatical so that your credibility is killed in the view of common folk etc...

I mean you start well but in fall down into your own storm of thoughts. Yes get away from this stuff but if you live in the western world you will need food and shelter unless you are looking to end it all. There is some personal enhancement that can be obtained from museums and such and certainly everyone should enjoy nature as much as they can while they have access to it. Responsibly of course. It does amaze me that people are still going to sports or movies or shows or streaming stuff at this point. Also worrying about their job and putting in more effort?

Going nowhere fast. We'll never hear about it again.

[–] real_squids@sopuli.xyz 10 points 1 day ago

Found a good general overview of it and guidelines on how to stay protected: https://stateofsurveillance.org/news/paragon-graphite-spyware-ice-phone-hacking-2026/

Great. Technology developed by the Israelis. I would love to see them try to do something positive for the world for a change.

[–] TheReturnOfPEB@reddthat.com 4 points 1 day ago

Among other things, to fuck with their neighbors that they don't like.

[–] HuntressHimbo@lemmy.zip 7 points 1 day ago

Good question for them to have to explain, but also fuck Gary Peters

[–] Sludgehammer@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

Stealing peoples nudes probably.
