The Whitehouse has been deliberately trying to sabotage embargo and sanction efforts against Russia. It's not even like they've just been passively not supporting Ukraine. They've been actively trying to help Putin. Because like you say, they want to ingratiate themselves to Russia.
It's insane that russia is helping iran target usa troops, the casualty count is going up, and trump is still licking the crude from between putin's butt cheeks. Putin is actively trying to make sure trump fails in Iran, and trump still wont turn against him.
