No, because I CAN'T. Because I can only call it in TWO DAYS EARLY and the pharmacy now seems to take 5 DAYS TO FILL IT SO I'M OUT SEVERAL DAYS A MONTH.

[-] SirSamuel@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

My favorite part is needing to remember to call in and get the scrip renewed, but only after the doc has submitted the scrip, and within the arbitrary refill window.

A 2 day window is ridiculous tho. Sorry your pharmacy and/or state sucks (I assume, like me, you're in the US because you're describing a dysfunctional medical system)

I know its tough with some meds being so controlled, but your doctor may be able to "up your dose" to help cover the gap. My doc changed one of my scipts from 20mg to [20mg twice a day] so i essentially have double. Helps get me through those same issues.

[-] Aquila@sh.itjust.works 8 points 1 month ago

No i need to call to get a new script and keep putting it off 😬

Can't take your meds
If you're still in bed

I made similar med reminder memes like this every day for a whole year for my partner. I'm so happy to find one in the wild!

I did! Thanks, crow!

I’m on a once a day pill (the generic of strattera, if you care) and strangely, if I make it a morning pill, I forget it almost every time, but as a just before bed routine, I seem to remember every single time. No idea what the difference is in my head. It’s just how it works for me, I guess?

[-] BenLeMan@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

As long as it works for you, great. Forgetting to take your atomoxetin is no fun. Major reason why I switched to something else, really.

I did! In part thx to this very crow. Thx crow!

[-] SourDragon@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

I did. I appreciate you looking out for us, Crow-friend πŸ¦β€β¬›

A group of friends who often take trips together often forgets to take meds because we're in various places and out of our routine.

So we've started a thing where, as soon as everyone's awake, someone yells "MED CHECK!" and the 3/4 of us who have forgotten get up to speed.

[-] nailbar@sopuli.xyz 3 points 1 month ago

If I have no meds to take, did I take them or did I not?

[-] Malyca@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 month ago

Am I the only one that doesn't forget? Granted I just started and am still excited by marginally more functional brain.

[-] BenLeMan@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

It's a solved problem for me since pill boxes exist.

[-] MystikIncarnate@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 month ago

I did, thanks Crow.

I have an alarm set on my watch daily for it in the morning. I don't let myself turn off the alarm until I go over to my desk and move my pills over to the "you need to take these" spot I have. I don't allow myself to put the pills away until they've been taken.

If I wake up and I've missed my "pill" alarm, my first act of the day is to move the pills to the "you need to take these" location. Even before I go to the bathroom after waking up.

It's a little system I've developed for myself. If I haven't just woken up and my reminder alarm is in the past, and the pills are in their storage location, not in the "you need to take these" location, I assume that they've been taken, even if I don't remember doing it (which happens).

I should just get a pill box or doucet or whatever to track things but my little system hasn't failed me yet.

I dunno if my system will work for anyone else, but I hope my description helps someone else figure out a way to take their meds more consistently. If this way doesn't work for you, I hope you find something that does.

I printed this picture out and taped it to my wall by the front door. It's the only thing that helps me remember to take my pills. Post-it notes don't work. Just the fear of upsetting the crow does. I don't know why.

I'm sure that eventually, I'll see a crow in real life and go "oh, did I take my pills today?"

I wonder if this would work with other things. Maybe subconsciously, I tend to ignore reminders with plain text. Maybe I could add animals or memes to my reminders.
