The recomp scene is moving fast. XenonRecomp cracking open the Xbox 360 library was a watershed moment [...] The N64 side continues to grow too, with new titles appearing every few weeks as N64Recomp matures.

I'm sort of out of the loop with modern recomp efforts, but I've been seeing more and more games get their own recompilation to work on PC or similar. Are recomps the future of running old games on modern hardware?
