Scrolling on lemmy.world gets confusing when new posts are added to the page periodically. I prefer content remaining static until I refresh. Is there a way to configure that?

It's a "Bug" that's being worked on. I think I heard they will replace it with a button counting the new posts, which you can click to actually load them in.

I hope that button gets implemented, that would be perfect!

Got it, thanks for clarifying! Glad to hear that.

Lol and here we thought it was a feature.

Thanks for the info, I was gonna ask the same question

It's a bug currently, users have mentioned it will be fixed in the next version.

Thanks for explaining

Ah interesting, I guess it made sense when the community was much smaller. Seeing a new posting pop up every few minutes. Now that there are significantly more users and instances the live postings are hitting much faster, every few seconds.

I wish people would implement features with the ability to turn them off. Seems mindboggling to me that this annoyance wasn't on the implementers radar.

I don't want to be mean, but this has been asked SO many times in the past few days. A quick search will bring up several threads with answers.

Keep in mind that the Android App, Jerboa, doesn't have search functionality yet.

[โ€“] ndr@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Does the app have auto-refresh?

[โ€“] Cyder@lemmy.one 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

The refresh issue doesn't seem to exist in the Jerboa app. Just pointing out that App users may not be able to search for previous threads as easily. I can't tell if the iOS app Mlem has search, but the question of whether it has search has been asked multiple times and was mostly unanswered.

Mlem doesn't either.

But, then, the user who had this refresh issue was using the web version, which does have search.

I was just personally annoyed cuz I tried to help many people here and it sucks repeating yourself when the info is out there. Of course, it's okay to ask if you don't understand, though.

I haven't tried searching for post on lemmy so i don't know the answer to this and am curious to know how does one search for post on sublemmies and if there is a way how findable are the post. I wonder

Assuming the content is not on a community that hasn't been discovered by your instance yet, then you can just use the search button on the top right. You have filters for posts / comments / communities / etc. You can also search on a specific community only.

why not just ignore it and move on then?
