More bullshit to make a two bird one stone targeting both muslim minorities and activists. And as usual, the "yeah but you see it's a feminist move" talks from far right is... a crackdown on women.

Banning people from covering their face willingly is an absurd attempt to control people's behaviour. Banning people from forcing others to cover their faces is pointless because you already have ways to stop that.

This is plainly just a way to satisfy the right, diluting the power of the law and causing a scene in public.

Surveillance too.

Wear a burqa.

Claim it's artistic.

When challenged, say you're cosplaying as someone who lives in a country with religious freedom.

To be fair it's more of a cultural garment than religious. Several Muslim countries ban it too: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burqa_by_country

Good luck next pandemic.

I'm not a Muslim, but I think this law is really silly.

What happens when pandemic 2 requires mask mandates?

I don't know much about Portugese politics, but I imagine it would depend on what style of right-wingers they are. They may be anti-mask troglodytes, in which case no problem, masks are banned and good luck everybody. Or they may be just bigoted troglodytes, in which case the law will be selectively enforced according to their prejudices.
