So my original intent when I started this a couple years ago was to fill in between the wood with aggregate. Given my current health issues, and the fact that I’ll likely need to clear the snow, I decided to change the pathway to wood.

This is what it looked like when we bought the house.

The cheapest quickest thing at the time was to just sod everything.

Next year I got the flower beds started

Fence and gate

More flower beds

Still grass

And the start of the pathway

I thought it was a guillotine in the first pic.

I mean it’s almost taken my hand off a few times… it’s really windy so I tensioned the spring more than it should be.

I always wonder how much does wood cost in the US (I assume you're in the US?) when I see project like thus because that look expensive

Cheaper than other building materials, but still pricey, it’s over double what it was when I started 5 years ago.

For reference, one 2”x8” that’s 10’ long costs $20 and gets me 3 boards at 39”. That’ll cover 2’ of pathway.

So 20’ of pathway would need 10 boards at $200(ish), while the stone would need 1.1 cubic yards. The stone can be anywhere from $50-$300 a yard depending on type.

Concrete without doing a base is $350 a cubic yard.

Also, in Canada, so not much different than USA for pricing.

It looks great, thanks for sharing! Might inspire me to finish my tiny rain barrel pad this weekend 😅

Doesn’t need to be anything fancy. My one out front for now I just dug a hole out of the top soil to put 6” of gravel down. Couple boards to disperse the weight and raise it up more.

The pathway going the other way.

And the flower beds to hold the dirt and sod while I move stuff around.

I used some Sika foampost replacement and Fast2k as well, I used these instead of trying to mix concrete with my current issues, I figured it was worth the try, it was only 20% more than bags of readymix. I wouldn’t used it for a fence or deck, but I think for garden beds it’s perfectly fine.
