1. Relevant commentary on your own dull life. Posts should be about your own dull, lived experience. This is our most important rule. Direct questions, random thoughts, comment baiting, advice seeking, many uses of "discuss" rarely comply with this rule.

2. Original, Fresh, Meaningful Content.

3. Avoid repetitive topics.

4. This is not a search engine
Use a search engine, a tradesperson, Reddit, friends, a specialist Facebook group, apps, Wikipedia, an AI chat, a reverse image search etc. to answer simple questions or identify objects. Also see rule 1, “comment baiting”.

There are a number of content specific communities with subject matter experts who can help you.

Some other communities to consider before posting:

5. Keep it dull. If it puts us to sleep, it’s on the right track. Examples of likely not dull: jokes, gross stuff (including toes), politics, religion, royalty, illness or injury, killing things for fun, or promotional content. Feel free to post these elsewhere.

6. No hate speech, sexism, or bullying No sexism, hate speech, degrading or excessively foul language, or other harmful language. No othering or dehumanizing of anyone or negativity towards any gender identity.

7. Proofread before posting. Use good grammar and punctuation. Avoid useless phrases. Some examples: - starting a post with "So" - starting a post with pointless phrases, like "I hope this is allowed" or “this is my first post” Only share good quality, cropped images. Do not share screenshots of images; share the original image.

I forgot to get blueberries last Sunday, and I ran out yesterday, so I went shopping early. Frozen berries with cream, cinnamon, and cashews is my nightly treat. I considered doing without till Sunday, but just went shopping early, instead.

Why do retired people shop on weekends.

Early Sunday morning is one of the quietest times to shop, everyone else is at church. Store is practically empty. Don't worry, I'm not in "your way."

Compared to 11am on a Tuesday?

You one of those monsters that shops on Sundays? Thank god the laws here dont allow people to do that.

I never imagined I'd be called a "monster" for shopping on a Sunday. Other things, yes, but not that. Sunday morning, when everyone else is at church, is one of the best times to shop.

Interesting. I may have to do that too. Both my teens are home and I may need to feed them, but am not prepared.

Less dull and more “potentially dead”

Dead can also be pretty dull:

You know about the class 1 "high probability [of] death" recall on frozen blueberries in the US right??

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 1 points 7 hours ago

That's the thrill. Buying US farm products in 2026 is like...

The image is clearly from a UK supermarket. It's only the US that lacks sane food safety standards currently.

[–] Tom@lemmy.world 2 points 10 hours ago

Now, now. That is simply not true.
There are plenty of countries lacking sane food safety standards and/or enforcement thereof, including some of the countries where sainsbury's gets its blueberries.
