Anecdote: one thing my current partner of multiple years liked on my dating app profile was that I hid the face of my friends on my pictures with big bell peppers. She didn't know it came from Gimp of course, but I showed her later and we've been together since.

Open source can have just as many dumb things in it. The difference is you can fork it and remove those things.

So true, I wonder how people still clinging to Photoshop are holding up

They're getting spammed with the AI stuff.

Corps who would rather have AI looking images instead of using stock photos love the AI stuff.

I've been pushing everyone else to photopea.com which is photoshop sans-ai in the browser.

which is photoshop sans-ai

From your link:

State-of-the-art AI

Remove background with one click, or replace any part of an image with a new content through a text description.

I don't see that, I don't pay for it and I have an adblocker.

[-] EmilieEasie@fedinsfw.app 4 points 3 days ago

I've never heard of that before, that's near, thanks

Had no idea this existed, thanks!

there really is no reason. even corporate owned free affinity can read all photoshopnfiles. gimp is finally getting better but not there yet.

[-] EmilieEasie@fedinsfw.app 7 points 3 days ago

I don't know about actually retouching photos, but I don't know any digital artists that have used Photoshop in a long, long time! There are a TON of alternatives for art.

[-] terabyterex@lemmy.world 7 points 3 days ago

what kind if work? seriously, i hate dealing with photodhop files but every freelance artist i hire uses Photoshop

[-] OwOarchist@pawb.social 6 points 2 days ago

Maybe they're sending you photoshop files because that's the 'industry standard', but that doesn't necessarily mean they're actually working in photoshop. Lots of other editors are able to read and save photoshop files.

I draw cartoon porn mostly but the SFW comic artists I know all abandoned Photoshop, too. I wonder if Loish still does? She was huge on deviant art back in the day.

I'm fucking triggered by the right side so hard. that's like 90% of modern UIs.

it's disgusting and unusable.

Live me some Gimp

Jira has a "for you" page that shows everything assigned to you. You used to be able to quickly update a ticket's status. It still shows the status, but now when you hover it shows UI for deploying a (fucking useless) agent instead. I can't wrap my mind around how you would so blatantly prioritize the latest hype over the core functionality of the whole app.

We need guillotines.

I'm going to assume you're not a middle manager then.
