So, if John Satan, CEO of Satan is covering his iPhone cameras, uh... should us peasants do so as well? I've occasionally noticed my mic or camera indicator activate on iOS without me using them and I'm very particular about apps and permissions... I've chocked it up to being a bug from my older OS version...

(No, I don't want to use an iPhone. I'm poor, it was cheap with a phone plan.)

Reminds me of how Zuck spent $110M buying all the homes around the one he wanted, to maintain HIS privacy. And then he had the city change zoning codes so he could stitch all 11 houses he bought into a single private compound.

I know I'm going out on a limb here. But I betcha almost nobody reading this thread can drop $110M buying out a whole neighborhood to get privacy, and then spend a couple years of heavy equipment and crew time to rebuild it.

Extreme example? Yah. But lots of smaller examples too, down here at normal ppl levels of money. You want privacy? It'll cost. Privacy becomes a luxury for the well off.

Considering that some of the biggest companies hacking smartphones are in Israel and were founded by ex-Israeli Military, I'm sure he's very well informed about the remote activation and use of smartphones as eavesdropping devices.

Also he probably doesn't want other to have on them the kind of blackmail material Israel has been using against European and American politicians to make them do whatever is best for Israel even against the wishes of their own Public Opinion.

The leader of a surveillance state taking precautions for privacy, how ironic!

[-] Maeve@kbin.earth 10 points 1 day ago

I was just thinking it may be good practice for all of us.

He should wrap some tape around his mouth and nose.

You know, to stop state secrets getting out.

I remember when Obama was reading everyone's emails and spying on everybody, the Brazilian president was using a 3DS to take photos LMAO

[-] ShinkanTrain@lemmy.ml 4 points 21 hours ago* (last edited 21 hours ago)

How else was he (she? when was this?) gonna take 3D pictures

[-] grey_maniac@lemmy.ca -1 points 1 day ago

What was your purpose in including the subclause about Obama? It wasn't necessary to the observation, as far as I can tell.

[-] ZeroHora@lemmy.ml 9 points 1 day ago

Because gives the read the timeslot when that happened? It was during the Obama government, after Edward Snowden.

Too bad he can't afford a better case.

One might think he's a fucking goddamn idiotic evil shit if he could.

On the Epstain files

[-] magnue@lemmy.world 28 points 1 day ago

Hey @grok use common sense to answer my question.

[-] mbp@slrpnk.net 8 points 1 day ago

Does he pack gum into the mic holes?

[-] dubs@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 1 day ago

I've been covering my cameras with tape for a long time. If you wanna get fancy with it, the EFF sells laptop camera stickers: https://shopeff.org/products/laptop-camera-cover-set-ii

[-] NedRyerson@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 day ago

That product picture sure looked like a phone being covered

[-] dubs@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 day ago

It's just a normal sticker, so it would work on pretty much anything. I think of it more as a way to donate to a group that I like, as well as good advertising for them.

[-] kibiz0r@midwest.social 9 points 1 day ago

@grok tell me about Pegasus by NSO Group

[-] antianarchist@sopuli.xyz 2 points 1 day ago

Another easy trick is to lean your phone to a wall and to do some goatse. There is no better way to get rid of the spies.

[-] ThunderComplex@lemmy.today 8 points 1 day ago

What really sends me is that in the bottom images the orange cover is tailored to the lenses and keeps the flash exposed, instead of just taping over the whole thing with one big ass rectangle

[-] webghost0101@sopuli.xyz 44 points 1 day ago

Flashlight is still useful.

[-] technocrit@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

It chases away the ghosts of all the people he's murdered.

[-] BeatTakeshi@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

It's really just 2 pieces of tape crossed

[-] birdwing@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 1 day ago

why should we promote the fascist's tiny dick fake news creator?

Benny should be using gaffers' tape (that doesn't leave glue on the lens when removed) instead of house wrap tape.

[-] starik@lemmy.today 3 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

You’d think someone would make a case that has a door that can slide shut to cover the camera when needed.

[-] technocrit@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 day ago

No need for a door. Dude is in constant hiding.

[-] blackbrook@mander.xyz 1 points 1 day ago

They do. I have one on my phone.

[-] technocrit@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 day ago

when removed

I don't think this is a concern.
