I assume these idiots are only making noise about "protecting women" now because it's code for "eliminate trans people".

[-] toomanypancakes@crazypeople.online 81 points 2 weeks ago

Correct, they have never at any point actually cared about what happens to women. Whenever a conservative talks about protecting something it means "I am trying to hurt people I dislike".

[-] Serinus@lemmy.world 29 points 2 weeks ago

They care about what happens to women. For example, they don't want them to vote.

[-] TheLowestStone@lemmy.world 20 points 2 weeks ago

And they want them to make (white) babies.

[-] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 2 points 1 week ago

and see them as incubators.

[-] Jankatarch@lemmy.world 24 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

They were also making noise about "protecting trans people" back when it meant "eliminate middle-easterners." So I fully expect next step is going after women even harsher than before.

[-] eatCasserole@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

Oh weird, I missed that bit. It's so hard now to imagine them saying something positive about trans people, but they'll say anything that's convenient in the moment...

But yeah, they'll find a new boogeyman at some point and go back to openly hating women, no doubt.

[-] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

It was very brief in the wake of the Pulse massacre

[-] HAL_9_TRILLION@lemmy.world 18 points 2 weeks ago

It's also code for "wipe out abortion," because there is always a non-zero chance of medical procedures having complications and psychological ramifications.

Unfortunately trans people are just one of the many starts.

Fascism doesn't love any of us.

[-] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 7 points 1 week ago

Yep, it'll become protect women from abortion, protect (white) women from black and brown men, and eventually protect women from freedom.

It already is, though. Look at abortion, specifically.

[-] Zorg@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 1 week ago

First they came for...

[-] marighost@piefed.social 12 points 2 weeks ago

Same kind of shit when they yell "protect kids!!" when the GOP&co is raping them.

[-] Viking_Hippie@lemmy.dbzer0.com 11 points 2 weeks ago

Yup!

Just like they coopted "my body my choice" to justify not getting the covid vaccine 🙄

Last I heard, though, abortions weren't extremely contagious. Sure as hell were never a global health emergency.

[-] eatCasserole@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

Ugh I hated that one.

[-] apftwb@lemmy.world 6 points 2 weeks ago

New "White Lives Matter" just dropped.

[-] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 2 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

WHite lives matters dint have the effect they wanted because it was already naturally raicst and it wasnt "inclusives" to minorities that were also conservative. they just mostly stuck with "woke" and anti-trans.

[-] Vanth@reddthat.com 107 points 2 weeks ago

Hanging with extended family some this weekend and a MAGA cousin I usually avoid interacting with mentioned how "neuroplasticity" is what enables Republicans to hold two contradicting positions at once. I am in awe at how simple and stupid his solution is to the cognitive dissonance. Don't try to resolve it, just slap a multi-syllable science word on it and be proud of it.

[-] NOT_RICK@lemmy.world 61 points 2 weeks ago

I wonder which influencer fed him that line

[-] db2@lemmy.world 29 points 2 weeks ago

It's fed lines all the way down

[-] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 5 points 1 week ago

J peterson probably, hes into the pseudopsych stuff.(yes we know he is a professional in it too)

[-] Secret_Music@piefed.blahaj.zone 18 points 2 weeks ago

The funny thing about that is that there has been one study that shows conservatives (especially conservative men) have an enlarged amygdala compared to other people, the amygdala being the part of the brain that handles primitive responses, namely fear driven responses.

And there's been another study that linked brain damage to having conservative, rigid views. Which explains all the right wing MMA fighters and rugby players.

[-] TankovayaDiviziya@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago

It is said that the feeling of disgust is stronger among conservatives, which probably explains a lot.

That's some great doublethink going on there.

[-] Robust_Mirror@aussie.zone 3 points 1 week ago

First thing to my mind. It's near word for word with neuroplasticity bolted on.

[-] phx@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

Maybe they think that neuroplasticity comes from excess microplastics in the brain ..

[-] Leviathan@fedinsfw.app 1 points 1 week ago

Sounds like a Huberman/Rogan convo.

I dislike that phrase, "at all costs."

Ok: To protect these two women, you must murder millions of people.

According to the phrase, that's just the cost.

[-] Makeshift@sh.itjust.works 33 points 2 weeks ago

It's also annoying in a semantic way.

"At all costs" sounds like it's saying to take every sacrifice possible, even if not every cost is needed.

"At any cost" sounds better, because it's saying something is important enough for whatever cost is necessary, but don't make sacrifices that aren't needed.

[-] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

Well that's the cost they're hoping for. The costs they aren't willing to pay are things like changing culture to be more harsh towards men who don't respect consent, listening to victims of sexual assault, or punishing powerful men who hurt women.

And compare that to keeping trans women from playing a non contact sport with cis women and tell me which will actually protect cis women.

[-] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 16 points 2 weeks ago

Wait, he's a black far right republican? Wtf? The transgender might be a stunt to be anti-transgender.

Second, he actually did get a 50 year restraining order because his wife was so in fear of him. Maybe they should look into why she's in fear? This sounds like assault and/or attempted murder. It's not just her, but their son as well.

I'm not sure about this source though: https://www.minnpost.com/glean/2026/04/royce-white-senate-candidate-under-protective-order-threats-exwife-minnesota-senate-republican/

[-] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 10 points 2 weeks ago

In court filings, White is accused of making numerous threats and being both physically and verbally abusive toward his former partner and their teenaged son. He refutes the allegations and is appealing judicial findings in the case, telling MPR News on Thursday the order is a “substantial miscarriage of justice” and “excessively punitive.”

Seems simple enough

[-] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 weeks ago

It doesn't sound like they're prosecuting him, but that she has to go after him herself? I might be reading it wrong, but that's what I'm getting from all of the articles with unknown sources.

[-] Akasazh@lemmy.world 10 points 2 weeks ago
[-] Vanth@reddthat.com 29 points 2 weeks ago

It's a blonde wig. He's a washed up NBA player trying to make money pandering to the Fox News crowd by pretending he's transitioning to play in the WNBA.

He has physically and verbally abused his wife and kids. He washed out of NBA and European leagues for being inconsistent, unreliable, and dramatic. He's said he'll run for president in 2028. Exactly what you would expect from a Republican "protector" of women.

[-] CobraChicken3000@lemmy.ca 10 points 2 weeks ago

"Washed up NBA player" might be too generous. He had potential but he clearly had mental issues that made it impossible to be in the league. So, he lashed out at everyone.

[-] Stern@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago

He played 10 minutes total and had two fouls, and no points, blocks, 3 pointers, steals... or anything else in his entire time playing in the NBA. You and I are better players then him, as our statline matches his, but without the two fouls.

[-] Akasazh@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago

Ah, thanks. What an idiot.

With the second post in mind, read the first again.

It reads like "Royce White met with the other guy. PROTECT YOUR WOMEN AT ALL COSTS, THEY WILL COME FOR THEM!"

[-] QueenHawlSera@piefed.social 9 points 2 weeks ago

He protects women by honoring the restraining order his wife has on him for beating the shit out of her.

[-] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 3 points 1 week ago

wonder if riley knows that, or she think being anti-trans would protect her from abusive men.

Jesus forgives. And the Lord uses imperfect vessels. And He works in mysterious ways.

And he tells wives to submit to their husbands, so... I dunno guys seems clear to me. You have to support him if you want to be a good Christian.

Also, she probably deserved it.

[-] anarchy79@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

Jesus would slap a bitch

[-] anarchy79@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

Protect women at all costs! Lock them in your basement for their own safety!

[-] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 2 points 1 week ago

at first i thought he was triple H, because the background looks like A WWE arena.

[-] Aeri@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

Why would you bother setting a fucking 50-year time limit just make it life at that point.
