What he is trying to hide is that the bases that would have restocked the Lincoln were destroyed in the immediate aftermath of Trump's initial bombing of Iran, and Hegseth didn't want to tell him. So he kept it a secret from the president, and everyone else, and thought that would be the end of it.

Like all stupid MAGAs, Hegseth didn't consider the next steps, so he never thought about what would happen when a city on water didn't get any logistical support at all, until it became such an enormous scandal that it could not be contained any longer.

The Lincoln was my first ship and my first depl. I road that ship into dry dock in 2012. That ship was freshly retrofitted by November of 2014. I believe before that it went into dry dock in like 2005 and left dry dock in 2006.

It's wild to me to hear (given the fact that just before it went into dry dock in 2012 it was one of the better maintained ships I have been on) that things have deteriorated to this degree. Covering it up and expecting that the news won't get out with 5000+ angry and depressed service members living in those conditions is a pipe dream. Hegseth should be more than ashamed and any real Commander in Chief would have fired him and prosecuted him for this crap.

I wonder if he's still drinking heavily. I assume many members of the administration are drunk or high, at least some of the time.

Hegseth, Patel, ... Maybe I imagined it, but I think Bessent referred to the Strait of Hormuz as the Strait of Vermouth.
