lunar project archive has a bunch of bar files from pre-appworld shutdown (which are signed and do not need root to install) likewise also jellybean era android apps, most notably telegram x still releases builds for legacy android (which i use on my classic), you can force redreader to work if you care enough about reddit

as for new apps made post-root... so far, it looks like there's a modern browser, whatsapp, maybe discord, maybe twitter, maybe mastodon, there isn't much yet but i'm interested to see what comes out of this mini revival of sorts
