Guitar picks (lemmy.nz)

I bought them as a gift. Really cute stocking stuff I think. They are in Calgary and ship super quick. Love the little card with the details on each pick.

I get the novelty, but is there any action in these at all, or does it feel like playing with a piece of wood?

I'm sure they work, but what do they sound like? Brian May picks with a coin, so anything will work if you learn how to use it. I've always wanted to try one of those old antique picks made out of actual tortoiseshell, but I've never had the chance.

No not “sounds like” - the give and feel of the pick.

Lots of guitar players - myself included - use a pic that has some give, which is communicating information back to the hand.

Cute novelty but not actually functional

All of those are hardwoods, so I would imagine they feel "stiff as a board," pun intended.

Personally I like mine to be fairly firm with a tiny bit of give. If I use too floppy a pick it feels like I'm playing with a sock and I lose accuracy between strings.

And how quickly will they break?

I can’t comment on that. I don’t play.

Are the raw wood? There's a reason nobody else does that.
