I do software development, and I'm one of two computer people in our business, with my boss being the other (the rest of the business is manufacturing). My boss recently discovered that retool has a "make stuff with ai" feature, and he just showed me his attempt at remaking one of my bigger projects with this. During the whole conversation, I couldn't get him to even start to understand any of my practical or moral objections to the whole "ai development" shit. He's acting like this is just another approach to development and doesn't seem to be considering the fact that you're offloading your thinking and understanding to a product owned by a private company with no transparency in what ends up getting made, or that this won't let future projects be better. It's just "we can make the thing faster".

Do what he says and let it create breaking problems that will cost the company money. Keep notes and receipts though.

Yeah, I see the problem.

He's not a "computer person", he's a manager. There's a world of difference.
