Yeah this came out a couple weeks ago when a guy got his id scanned at a car rental and it appeared within the hour.

So, I wanna talk about Marvels Civil War, not the movie but the comic it was based on. Some losers with powers decide the easy way to go big time is to make a superhero reality show. TL:DR Bad choices were made and they nuke an elementary school.
Anyways, this is what sets off a big moral panic and suddenly we gotta have the secret identity of everyone powers in a big ole "ultra secure" database. The majority of heroes go along with it, because they aren't the bad guys right!? Iron Man is a real dick and mandates that if you aren't following the law, then by definition you are a bad guy. They beat up "villains" for less! But Captain America refuses because "What happens when the bag guys hack it? Doctor Doom will be in that thing before the end of the week." So everyone beats everyone else up, Cap dies but comic books so he gets better.
I forget why I brought this up. Oh yeah! Tony Stark is a piece of shit.
Spoiler alert: he dies in the end
I watched all the crap movies just to watch that fascist billionaire asshole die. But they glorified his death and ruined it with a narrative that he was a hero. What a shitty set of movies.
I'm amazed by your ability to watch the MCU thinking they would portray Robert (Iron Man) in any other way than a hero (in a super hero movie)
They literally introduced his character as a fat cat war profiteer selling arms to terrorists.
I don't know how anyone could see him as anything other than a rogue billionaire terrorist. He was always the villain.
He nuked aliens invading Manhattan, using words like always/never is reductive.

I heard this story at least 3 or 4 times with 3 or 4 other companies that also claimed to be secure as fuck

Why doesn't the article mention zero knowledge proofs?
The issue here seems to be the lack of cryptography.
From a not-evil corporation's perspective, how would zero knowledge proofs work exactly? Like is there a step at any point in the process where a person's identity is verified by another human and then "forgotten?" I understand the concept of zero knowledge, but I'm not solid on how this system would actually meet the requirements of a so-called zero knowledge identity verification process.
Fuck off.with that. These systems are evil
If the alternative is everyone gets identity theft, I prefer the cryptography solution
That smells like a false dichotomy... but, I'm heading on to other things better to do with my time than to think up examples outside those two possibilities.
The problem is that it's Evil even if it works "right"
It's not evil for me to use State-issued crypto ID for auth when opening a bank account or paying taxes or voting.
It is if it creates artificial and unnecessary barriers to opening a bank account or voting, and if those barriers are for the profit and benefit of a cooperation rather than The People.
That's debatable.
