Lol, both other commenters (at this time) didn't bother to watch the video before having an opinion. The guy downloaded a bunch of public domain footage and made it searchable and free to download. Getty was charging $400/clip for what should be and now is free.
TIL selling a license to public domain footage you don't own is legal...

That's the difference between public domain and copyleft.
This reminds me of the Free Law Project, where there's a large network of people that upload court documents for anything that they've paid for initial access to.

Looks like a cool project but if significant number of people started using this he would have to start charging his users. He's creating a website that one day could compete with getty, not killed their business model.
I haven't even watched the video, but if the server would implement sharing via torrents, it would be perfectly horizontally scalable, at minimum cost for the server owner. (I assume from the comments that it's not what is going on at the moment though.)
Sure, everything costs effort and money. But not $400 per image download like what some commercial sites want to charge.
