Trump is demanding disposal countries pay back Ukraine aid, there’s a 99% chance Trump tries sizing their gold regardless of the economy.
In 2026 ICE or the FBI would gladly do this with opposition or question.
There would be big financial knock on effects if they block withdrawals however, it would basically write off future purchases of US based gold. They are still self-interested and this would be shooting themselves in the foot pretty badly
