Fun fact, this was the Garfield comic on 9/10.

Sir, a second Garfield has hit the Tower
Garfield orchestrated the worst terrorist attack in history
So they knew about it the day before and it still happened? Incompetence!
My favorite, The Onion classic.

Man I miss when Subway used to be affordable.
If you remember those times you're probably thinking of a version of subway that was at least partially edible.
I'm pretty sure I remember their sandwiches tasted like they were made of food at one point.
$5 foot longs are now $10 and have never been a foot long.
It’s funny in two ways because, like Subway, it’s tasteless!
9/11 jokes aren't funny. The other two are good though.

jesus christ it all makes sense now

9/11 jokes are plane wrong
No planes in this one. In fact, you have to have lived through Duhbya's presidency or be very knowledgable of it to understand the humor this subtle 20-oughts meme.

Happy 9 November to all those celebrating
That would be Kristallnacht, the original 9/11
looking at Germany rn there might be some people there actually celebrating Kristallnacht ...
There was an ad campaign for Flexon eyeglass frames that showed a plane flying past a skyscraper while the sky scraper bends out of the way.

My wife had it in her optometry practice on 9/11. She had her staff yank it out and stash it in the back office.
My favorite

I remember this edited photo of a tourist on top of the towers that went viral. My favorite edit of it was the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man.

Yup this is an oldie. Of course no one was on the observation deck that morning since it hadn't opened yet. I do believe some of the staff of the businesses on the observation floor were already there and died. I seem to recall hearing a Sabaro's employee died (there were a few NYC style eateries on the observation floor.)
Yeah, this picture was taken in 1997 and the guy in it did the editing. He just did it as a joke for his friends and didn't expect it to go viral.

From around 2007
Well, well, well...

--Tim Kreider, The Pain Comics
I have it on good authority that after the towers collapsed Trump tower became the tallest building in NYC. In fact, Trump called into a news broadcast to proclaim that hours after they'd fallen.
According to this Wikipedia list, if we exclude everything built after 2001, the Trump World Tower would be #6 just in NYC (after the Empire State Building, Chrysler Building, 70 Pine St, 40 Wall St, and Citigroup Center). But it does note that the Trump Tower was the tallest residential building in the world from 2000-2003, a ranking that would not have been affected by the fall of the WTC.
Fun fact: In Spain 9/11 is called "11S" and in Poland simply "WTC attacks"(because there's no fun way to shorten dates in Polish) .
Yeah I've heard most countries flip the month and day around so it'd be 11/9 so 9/11 sounds strange to them since it'd be implying November 9th rather than September 11th.
For guidance on 9/11 jokes, I refer to Gilbert Gottfried, Jimmy Carr, Pete Davidson, and Seth MacFarlane.
It's been a bit funny seeing the shift. 9/11 jokes were fairly common amongst edgy doofuses for decades, but now they're considered slightly more uncouth for some reason. Not sure what the deal is. The typical joke formula flipped. Time+tragedy=irreverance? Glad for the people affected by 9/11, but it's perplexing
Pearl clutching from right wingers who want us to forget they were whining about masks while 4000 people were dying from Covid every fucking day for months
That's because of the 22,3 year rule. Tragedies become funny to joke about without shockhumor after about 22,3 years. Like aids became socially funny ~20 years ago and 9/11 became socially acceptable to joke about just shortly after COVID.
It's uncanning how accurate Matt and Trey's documentary was. As usual.
I mean to be fair people were joking about 9/11 way before that time, even South Park made fun of 9/11 a few years later when they made that 9/11 conspiracy episode.
I thought the younger generations were even more radical about 9/11 jokes?
We didn’t take covid deaths seriously, so why should we care about 9/11?
As someone chronically online, it’s surprising (and not) how many of these I’ve seen for the first time.
This comment section is pure comedy gold.
According to Trump he was controlling the towers
Nah. We now have videographic evidence of who was in control of 9/11

lmao i laughed my ass of at this one, idk what makes it so good
