No "Get out"?
Get Out is solid and a creative example of turning a relateable real-world uncomfortable situation into supernatural horror. Its story is simple, which is a virtue (especially for a first movie), but imho that means it got too easily turned into just a commentary on "race relations."
Nope, on the other hand, has a lot going on, including about family, media, human care of animals, the dying vs the idealized west, and struggling with grief. It stands up to multiple watches. It's grim, scary, realistic yet absurd, and sometimes just really funny.
So it's not that Get Out is bad, it's just that Nope is so much better, an example of Jordan Peele growing as a writer/director.
A solid answer.

I will look this one up too. Right when you think you have seen many horror movies, there are more around the corner you missed.
• リング ( The Ring ) ( recently watched for the first time a few years back and it was pretty good )
• Get Out ( that's a movie that has stuck with me since seeing it in theater )
• Us ( the 2019 film ) ( same deal as get out, except at home instead of theater )
• Coraline ( I know it's children's horror, but it is still pretty disturbing, IMO, even as an adult )
• Perfect Blue ( my first time watching it messed with my head with how they played with sense of time and what's real vs fake )
The Thing! The original, not the prequel (although I wouldn't call that one bad). A close second would have to be The Descent.
I have seen this one mentioned a lot, I will for sure look into this one. Seems like many love it.

I will look into these. The Witch sounds interesting.
I really love the goofiness of Happy Death Day. Good slasher without taking itself too seriously. Sleepaway Camp 1 and 2. I think the Autopsy of Jane Doe has just the right amount of terror for me. I watch it every October. Same with Trick 'R Treat, I never miss that one.
Hokum was the most recent one that really captured me. A lot of people missed it but I think it's absolutely worth a watch. Good Halloween vibes. Oh, and Undertone was scary as shit.
That sounds like an amazing collection. I will admit, slashers are my favorite genre.
The Mummy was such a great movie. I will look into Tremors. Great list.
Favourite would be ones I can watch over and over, like Evil Dead 2, Planet Terror, Drag Me To Hell and The Substance
There's a few I've seen which stuck with me in a different way though, like Eden Lake, Martyrs and The Sadness. Not in a hurry to rewatch, but still memorable.

Talk To Me (2022) is one that I found particularily scary. Send Help is the latest Sam Raimi film and is a lot of fun, with his signature zany style. Hokum was great, too, starring Adam Scott playing a likeable asshole. These aren't necessarily my favorites, just ones that come to mind that I've seen recently. I watch a lot of horror.
Those sound like a lot of fun to watch.

I feel like I have seen the trailer for this, maybe even watched it, but will have to recheck this one.
"[Rec]" is the best zombie movie I've seen.
Event Horizon - i had it on VHS back then, and the tape was starting to degrade at the start of the movie because we watched it so much
Do you remember BlockBusters? Yes, I am showing my age. 😭😭😭
There were no BlockBusters in Austria, or at least they weren't as prevalent as in the US, and i never rented VHS (most of my movies were pirated back then). But i was renting quite the amount of DVDs between my 20s and 30s.
Haell, I remember renting gamecube games from our local blockbusters. Just the games and not much of the store, though.

I'd add Kingdom(2019) as another different take on zombies, this is a TV show though.
There's so much more to explore in Asian filmography, just search for best Asian horror movies and you won't be disappointed.

There are actually a bunch of movies in the "series". But I think only the first two have real continuity, but they all star the same two actresses.
