That's great actually

I love seeing these. They are also really funny; there is some kind of comedic brilliance to Squidward delivering these messages

Thank you! I know they aren't for everybody but I thought some people would get a chuckle

Statistically, you will live a middle life, on average. Like, by definition.

[-] Zachariah@lemmy.world 3 points 4 days ago

pretty much everyone is normal

[-] RandomStickman@fedia.io 17 points 4 days ago

everything in moderation including moderation, right?

[-] trxxruraxvr@lemmy.world 17 points 4 days ago

I am totally fine with that

[-] surewhynotlem@lemmy.world 12 points 4 days ago

I want my name to echo through history, like Edison. Not forgotten, like those people he stole his ideas from.

I used to feel similarly, but just living a rad life should be pretty good, I think, eh? Part of what convinced me was reading Germaine de Staël's Treatise on the Influence of Passions on the Happiness of Individuals and Nations. Bottom line to me was just that fighting for renown is just too much bother, living a great ass life will be great regardless and if renown comes for that, great, why not.

Anyway, food for thought, it's a good read, I recommend it.

I feel like this one plays into the issue of not doing more when you can handle more. All things in moderation, including moderation.

Sometimes it’s worth doing more than just the normal amount of something.

These are like from something right? I'd love to read through all of them in an easier format that a pile of squidward memes if that's an option ❤️

[-] KombatWombat@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago

Not sure if this is what you want but this video has them voiced

There's a similar one for vices.

[-] QueenOfSquiggles@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago

Yeah not exactly but I appreciate it!

[-] agent_nycto@lemmy.world 4 points 4 days ago

I just found em online, I don't know if they are from something. I think people just made them up, which is cool

[-] Pixel_Jock_17@piefed.ca 1 points 3 days ago

Well this is definitely from Catholicism and the Seven Heavenly Virtues. These are all opposed by the Seven Deadly Sins, hence the title here Sins & Virtues.

While erring on the side if caution, I will say looking these up and reading about them is definitely something you can and should do as they themselves aren't really about religion but more about a belief system tied to the religion.

[-] QueenOfSquiggles@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago

I kinda meant the rebuttals for each of the deadly sins and heavenly virtues. I was raised catholic I know of them and where to know more. I'm mainly interested in the last panel of each of these. I was almost certain some of them were either from or based on hedonistic texts but I was curious to see if there was more than the short quips

[-] AdolfSchmitler@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

Thank you cuz i was wondering the exact same thing lol

** edit **

Ok I went diving. Looks like someone just meme'd these in r/wiseposting like a year ago, which itself was inspired by a similar series of memes but about the 7 deadly sins + some others. They have much longer last panels. They're just sort of general philosophical points about the sins/virtues that people have come up with but in meme form it seems.

Temperance = you will live a middle life, buried in a middle grave.

Patience = tides will rise regardless, fight or be swept away.

Humility = know your worth, lest others set it for you.

Charity = true gifts are free from expectation.

Diligence = work is sacrifice, today is for more than tomorrow's gain.

Chastity = joy shared is joy multiplied, it's lack does not create value

Kindness = you will burn from both ends until naught is left but memory
