Thatβs why the original designers were fired.
FOM/FIA did.
The Madrid project reportedly offered to pay Formula One β¬48m/year, nearly twice as much as Barcelona's current payment of β¬26m, in exchange for the right to host the race
It looks like it's a fun track to drive, however that doesn't always translate to being fun to watch. It's similar to Monaco, very tense, close wall action, but with no overtakes it's so bland as a fan.
At least Monaco is pretty to look at and has prestige.
I dont think drivers enjoy driving Monaco. Theyd love to win it though
They always say they do, partially because of the prestige but partly because it's such a challenge
I wonder if they built it with the idea of canceling Monaco in mind. "Well Monaco will definitely be canceled soon, so let's make a street circuit that emulates the best aspects of it and isn't in the most expensive city in the world." It was a good idea, except we now have both of them for the foreseeable future.
Spain has a history of shitty tracks. See Valencia, now in ruins. All propped up by taxpayers.
