I'd rather have it do everything I don't want.

[-] jontree255@lemmy.world 5 points 35 minutes ago

The robot has a chance to do something really funny when it’s on stage with Elon and becomes self aware.

[-] ZkhqrD5o@lemmy.world 12 points 1 hour ago

I'm calling it right now, if these things ever come to market, they will be remote controlled by slaves in the third world, with a bowl of rice per day as their payment.

[-] NaibofTabr@infosec.pub 3 points 33 minutes ago

Same model as Waymo, 1 operator for a dozen-ish remote devices.

[-] Padit@feddit.org 2 points 13 minutes ago

IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT THE CYLINDER REMAINS UNHARMED!

Can it give me estrogen?

[-] Raiderkev@lemmy.world 1 points 19 minutes ago

Careful. You wouldn’t would upset a huge bitch that has no friends when they have a 200kg robot with an internet connection in your house now, would you?

[-] Rocketpoweredgorilla@lemmy.ca 17 points 2 hours ago

If it's built anything like a cybertruck about the best it's gonna do is burn the house down after it gets stuck on the living room rug.

[-] Grostleton@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 2 hours ago

Especially then

Ah yes, I would like to pay $30,000 to have a surveillance device in my home, connected to the public internet. Microphones, cameras, probably sonar, maybe lidar and radar, plus a half dozen different communication antennas, on a platform that can move around my home while I'm not there and interact with things, controlled by some underpaid, overworked contractor in India. Surely the cybersecurity will be perfect, and no one will ever breach the teleoperation system and use the surveillance device to spy on people or actively commit crimes.

[-] hOrni@lemmy.world 18 points 2 hours ago

But will the man inside the robot suit be ok with that?

[-] Skullgrid@lemmy.world 11 points 2 hours ago

he's in india

[-] python@lemmy.world 19 points 2 hours ago

Man a cleaning robot would be kinda neat, but realistically it would have too much potential to make a huge fucking mess. Like, a roomba that drives over dog poop can only mess up in a single dimension but a full-ass robot?! Just imagine the mess it would make literally every time it takes out the trash. Or if it mistakes a flower pot full of dirt for a dish that needs to go in the dishwasher.

[-] Town@lemmy.zip 6 points 2 hours ago

There's no way these things will be affordable for most tasks. It takes a million dollars to raise an American worker, but many people will quickly suffer and starve if they don't work for a small cleaning wage.

[-] python@lemmy.world 3 points 1 hour ago

I wouldn't be quite so pessimistic! Many places, especially in Europe, have been making massive breakthroughs in consumer rights to repair and data privacy laws. If we keep big companies in check and pressure the government for further progress in those sectors, it might be possible for us to just kill rich people and take their robots without the robots tattling 💕

[-] Triumph@fedia.io 6 points 2 hours ago

Seize the means of production.

[-] horn_e4_beaver@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 26 minutes ago

How does one best seize bullshit?

[-] BlindPenguin@piefed.social 10 points 2 hours ago
[-] Kolanaki@pawb.social 18 points 3 hours ago

So they can destroy capitalism? 🤔

[-] Karjalan@lemmy.world 4 points 45 minutes ago

Or kill musk?

But I am le.tired

[-] mrmisses@lemmy.world 3 points 1 hour ago

Start with anyone over 1 million. Yeah that's right, I said it. Millionaires can go

[-] IrateAnteater@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 hour ago

A million calculated how? I only ask because if it's just raw net worth, a little old lady who has lived in her house in Toronto since the 70s, could easily be a "millionaire" despite having never had anything more than a modest income.

Personally, I'd put the limit somewhere around $3 - $5 million. There's where you are really transitioning out from simply living a lifetime of middle class income and getting lucky with a couple investments.

You mean I could have a robot mop my kitchen in the nude?!

[-] AfterlifeAdventures@lemmy.world 2 points 1 hour ago

Can they wipe out the rich nazis?

[-] AllNewTypeFace@leminal.space 1 points 1 hour ago

The optimussy upgrade is a subscription

[-] Mulligrubs@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago

Those hands look strong, can they choke stuff? Like people?

You know, to save the babies or whatever.

[-] decolo@piefed.social 1 points 1 hour ago

Can it assemble an army of nanobots that will single mindedly attempt to convert Elon into paperclips?
