The problem is the rug pull. Buy the device now, and after critical mass hits, they send out an update that adds telemetry, with users mostly being completely unaware.
It's a trust issue. Brand trust is more valuable now than it has been in a long time, possibly ever.
Most gaming monitors, computer monitors, video projectors, and commercial displays are spyware-free alternatives to smart TVs.
Last time I checked, there were also a few brands that still made dumb TVs, but it has been a few years since I looked.

What I'm getting from this is, for example: "I want an open-source, open-hardware 3D printer, but I still want it to cost 200–300 bucks... Solutions like Prusa and the like are too expensive for me... It should be subsidized so it's affordable... I don't care if the company goes bankrupt... Blah blah"
If you don't like the solutions that are available to you, then you just have to do without them sometimes, even if it hurts...
