Hunting season is upon us and I've scheduled a day next week to get out to the range and have some practice and test on the shotgun. There's two halves to my day:

In the morning, I'm going to the handgun range to select a choke and try to determine at what distance I can reasonably make a shot w foster slugs. I have a few different chokes to select from, so the plain is to:

1. Start with Cyl, then IC, then MOD, then Full (if necessary) and see what the least restrictive choke I can use and still get a group at 30 yds
2. Use that choke at 50 and 80 to see if those distances are possible.

In the afternoon, the plan is to switch into full choke and practice swinging at clays. This part is less about learning equipment and more about training the body mechanics.

Anything I'm missing or that would be good to think about before heading out? It's a Stevens 301 with a bead.

(It's a modern gun and the choke mfg supports shooting slugs through all chokes from CYL to FULL, I've done it before... it's not dAnGeRoUs in my context)
