From the news release:

In May, Manitobans were asked to share their views on the future of time changes and nearly 72,000 votes were submitted. A total of 92 per cent of Manitobans surveyed wanted to see an end to seasonal time changes. A majority of Manitobans (58 per cent) preferred to stay on permanent DST, while 34 per cent voted to eliminate the time change but stay on standard time.

I don’t get why you would want to live on DST? Is it really the positive association with day/sun/light as some have suggested?

Good. I've always thought it was asinine to be flipping clocks back and forth all the time. It's annoying and potentially dangerous when you've got people running around without enough sleep as it is. Maybe it made sense at one time before the electric light, but that was long ago.
